From the popular movie "Hello Li Huanying" to this year's hit TV series "The World of People", old buildings such as the staff hospital, the staff canteen, and the workers' cultural palace have once again awakened people's memories and the magnificent history of the third-line construction.
The construction of the third line includes the large third line and the small third line. Among them, 13 provinces and regions such as Sichuan, Guizhou, Yun, Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qing, Western Henan, Western Hubei, Xiangxi and Guangxi are called the "Great Third Line". In order to actively respond to the call of the state, since the mid-1960s, a large number of cadres and workers of factories and enterprises, as well as scientific researchers from colleges and universities, have moved from developed coastal areas to the interior.
The prototype of the Shengli Chemical Plant, where Mr. Li works, is the state-run Oriental Chemical Plant, which was led by Liaoning Qingyang Chemical Co., Ltd. and built with aid from the mid-1960s, and whose main product is explosives. The leaders and technical backbones of the factory were basically transferred from our province, and most of their families also moved to Hubei together.
The third-line builders have eaten and slept in the wind, shouldered their shoulders, fought against the sky, overcome all kinds of difficulties and obstacles brought about by nature and the hard life brought about by the lack of materials, exerted their youth and blood in the vast world of the motherland, and even sacrificed their precious lives, after three "five-year plans", built more than 1,100 large and medium-sized industrial and mining enterprises, scientific research units and colleges and universities, and formed a basically complete heavy industrial system of steel, energy, non-ferrous metals, electronics, chemistry, machinery and so on.
Liaoning played a pioneering role in supporting the construction of the third line, and the enterprises in Liaoning that supported the construction of the third line were basically the strongest at that time. The construction footprint of Liaoning enterprises such as Angang Steel and Shenfei covers the third-tier areas. According to incomplete statistics, by 1970, as many as 99,800 employees and 156,600 family members in Liaoning Province had moved to the third line.
Dedicated youth to life, dedicated to lifelong children and grandchildren, to this day, in the depths of these great southwests, you can still hear the authentic northeast dialect, the third-line builders are like a seed, sprinkled where to thrive. What has changed is the place of work, and what has not changed is the spirit of hard work and selfless dedication of the Working Class of Liaoning, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
