The deadline for April 29 is earlier, and the latest outbreak data will be updated tonight.
The main contents of this issue are:
1. There are cases of the Aomi Kerong BA.2.12.1 variant in the Singapore community
Second, foreign passenger workers continue to return
Third, Singapore reported no new deaths yesterday, and the case fatality rate of this wave remained at 0.055%
Fourth, the number of severely ill patients in ICU dropped to 6, and the occupancy rate of ICI beds was 1.7%
Fifth, the number of oxygen patients dropped to 25, and the number of ordinary hospitalized patients decreased to 225
There were 2 cases in the Singapore community
Confirmed case of the sub-variant of Omikejong BA.2.12.1
On 28 April, the Singapore Ministry of Health notified that two sub-variants of Omikron BA.2.12.1 had been detected in the Singapore community after active surveillance of local community cases and genetic sequencing.
Two patients have self-isolated after their diagnosis. Authorities also said the variant is not currently on the World Health Organization's list of "must be concerned" variants.

What is the Aumilon BA.2.12.1 sub-variant?
Many variants were derived from the 19 wild/original strain, one was D614G; the D614G strain was mutated; the Omiljung strain was mutated from the Omiljung strain; the BA.1, BA.2, BA.3, etc. were mutated from the Omiljong strain; the BA.2.12 was mutated from BA.2.12; and then BA.2.12 was mutated from BA.2.12.
Omikejong is considered the most contagious strain of the NEW CORONAVIRUS mutation to date, and BA.2.12.1 is the fastest spreading of many Omiljung variants.
White House chief medical adviser Fauci judged that BA.2 transmission is 50% to 60% stronger than Omicron, but it seems that the severe illness rate and immune escape are not higher than Omilon.
According to CNN, the spread of BA.2.12.1 is estimated to be 23% to 27% higher than BA.2. After a round of calculations, it can be calculated that the transmissivity of BA.2.12.1 is about twice as high as that of Aumechjong and ten times higher than that of the original virus.
About one in five new cases in the U.S. is currently BA.2.12.1. The BA.2.12.1 variant has also been monitored in the UK, Australia, Israel, Denmark and Austria.
KRRISTEN Nordlund, a cdc spokeswoman for the CDC, told CNN that the proportion of BA.2.12.1 in the United States has increased rapidly compared to other SUBphylogenetic variants of BA.2, particularly in New York and New Jersey.
BA.2.12.1 has attracted much attention because of the mutation at the L452Q point on its spike protein. L452 is the most critical mutation point of the Delta strain, L452 gives Delta a transmissibility advantage, while the original Olmikron strain does not have this mutation. Spike protein is the "key" for the new coronavirus to enter the human body's cells.
Perry Halkitis, dean of the Rutgers School of Public Health, believes that BA.2.12.1 is as annoying as a mosquito, but he does not think it will form another catastrophe.
"If people want to avoid infection, protect health, and protect the people around them, then people should still avoid large gatherings, wear masks, and give them a good booster shot, these are some of the basic measures of public health," he said. But, don't panic about it. ”
Return of construction workers
On 28 April, Singapore's Ministry of Manpower released the estimated data for the First Quarter 2022 Labour Market Report:
Total employment in Singapore increased by 41,100 in the first quarter of 2022, slightly lower than the increase of 47,900 in the previous quarter, but well above the peak of the pandemic.
At the peak of the pandemic in the second quarter of 2020, total employment in Singapore plummeted by 103,800.
In the first quarter, manufacturing employment increased by 7,200, unchanged from the previous quarter; construction employment increased by 21,600, more than 15,500 in the previous quarter; and employment in the service sector increased by 11,600, less than in the previous quarter.
Job growth is mainly in the construction industry. The Ministry of Manpower noted that the main job growth in the construction industry stemmed from WP guest workers.
That's because as borders are gradually opened, employers are pouring in from overseas to replenish the customer workers they've lost over the past two years.
Singapore's economic growth rebounded to 7.6% from -4.1% in 2020, with 166,600 jobs lost in 2020 and a positive growth of 41,400 in 2021.
As long as the economy continues to recover, the border continues to open, and some specific industries such as construction, maritime engineering, etc., the return of foreign passenger workers will only accelerate.
In March, the unemployment rate remained stable, with the unemployment rate for residents remaining at 3.0 percent and the citizens' unemployment rate at 3.2 percent, and the overall unemployment rate rising from 2.1 percent to 2.2 percent, the same as before the epidemic. The so-called "resident" refers to PR permanent residents and citizens.
Seasonally adjusted, the number of unemployed residents fell slightly in the first quarter of this year, from 76,300 in December to 73,900 in March this year.
Singapore 28 April outbreak review
Singapore's Ministry of Health reported that as of 1200 noon on April 28, there were 2,690 new confirmed cases, including 2,652 local cases and 38 overseas imports, with a total of 1,193,250 cases.
In the past 28 days, there have been a total of 94,117 confirmed cases in Singapore, of which 99.7% are asymptomatic/mild, 0.2% require ordinary oxygen, 0.02% are ICU severe, and 0.04% die.
Among the new confirmed cases yesterday, 268 (10%) tested positive for PCR and 2422 (90%) tested positive for ART antigen.
The seven-day mobile growth rate of indigenous cases fell from 0.88 to 0.86 the previous day, meaning that there were 100 cases in the seven days of the previous phase and 86 cases in the seven days of the current phase.
The Singapore Ministry of Health has repeatedly pointed out that considering that many ART antigen self-tests are not reported, the number of infections is actually higher, and the overall positive rate is definitely higher. The higher the positive rate and the closer it is to herd immunity, the virus will still spread, but the rate will slow down, severe illness and death will decrease. The authorities formulate policies that do not consider the number of infections, but severe illness and death, and open up as wide a range as possible as soon as possible without the risk of a run on medical resources.
Yesterday's vaccinations for patients at all levels were as follows:
Yesterday's notification of no new deaths in this wave case fatality rate remains at 0.055%
The Ministry of Health notified no new deaths last night, with a total of 1334 cases, and the overall case fatality rate remained at 0.112%, the same as the previous day.
The number and age distribution of recent deaths is as follows:
Divided by the type of strain, Singapore experienced the original virus wave, entering Delta Wave last year and now the Opicron Wave. The Singapore Eye begins with Omikron waves on 6 January, and analyzes the case fatality rates of these three waves as follows:
The above is a rough division of three periods by the time of each wave of the epidemic. The case fatality rate remained at 0.055 per cent, the same as the previous day.
The above-mentioned Opmi Kejung Wave is only a rough division of the Singapore Eye, and some of the deaths are infected with the Delta strain, but the time of death occurs during the Opmi Kejung Wave, so we still classify it as the Opmi Kejung wave statistics.
The vast majority of Singapore's original virus waves were dormitory guest workers, who were young and strong, and died of illness and 2 people, while Deltapo and Olmikronpo mainly infected communities, and most of the deceased were elderly and infirm.
The number of severely ill ICU patients dropped to 6
There were 6 people in the ICU intensive care unit, 2 fewer than the previous day; the ICU ward occupancy rate was 1.7%.
According to age, 2 people over 70 years old (=), 3 people over 60 years old (-1), 40 to 59 years old 1 person (-1); the numbers in parentheses are compared today and yesterday.
According to the disease, 0 people (-1) were observed by ICU oxygen infusion and 6 people were intubated (-1).
Of the 6 people who were critically ill intubated, 3 were not vaccinated/did not complete the vaccination, and 3 people had completed the full vaccination, of which 2 had been vaccinated with booster injections.
The number of ordinary oxygen transfusion patients fell to 25 ordinary hospitalized patients to 225
There were 25 people with common oxygen transfusion disease, 2 fewer than the previous day.
Of the 25 people who received general oxygen, 5 were not vaccinated/did not complete the vaccination process; 20 people had completed the full vaccination, of which 14 had been vaccinated with a booster.
Ordinary oxygen patients use ordinary isolation wards and masked ventilators, which are noninvasive, do not need to establish artificial airways, and do not have intubation.
There were 225 ordinary patients in the isolation ward, 2 fewer than the previous day.
Of the 225 people with the general type of disease, 29 were unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated, and 196 were fully vaccinated, of which 148 were given boosters.
0.8% of Delta infected patients need oxygen, and less than 0.3% of Omikeron infected patients need oxygen.
There were 38 imported cases abroad
Imported cases increased by 38 yesterday to a total of 32,073.
If there is no mutant virus with faster transmission, it is believed that in the next six months, the imported cases will fluctuate up and down in the range of 100 cases per day.
