In 2020, after the outbreak of the epidemic in Malaysia, Huazong Huabo has been closed so far.
At the restart ceremony on the same day, Hua also hired well-known Chinese community leaders Chen Yanshun, Kwong Hanguang and Chen Dazhen as permanent honorary consultants of the museum; and hired Dai Xiaohua, He Qicai, Chen Zhonghe, Yu Sifu, Huang Ruiqing and other "experts and scholars with high attainments and rich experience in promoting Chinese culture in Malaysia" as consultants, hoping to give full play to the strength of people from all walks of life to help inherit and carry forward Chinese culture. Mr. Hua also awarded the late Wu Defang, the first chairman of the Huabo Committee, as the museum's "Honorary Consultant for Life" in recognition of his contributions to Huabo.

Wu Tianquan, president of the China City Hall (Hua Zong), said that with the relaxation of epidemic control measures in Malaysia, Hua Bo and Hua Zong, the State China Town Hall are gradually resuming operations. He hoped that Huabo, with the support of all parties, would continue to grow steadily and become a "solid fortress" of Chinese history, education and culture in Malaysia, just like Chinese primary schools, (Chinese) independent secondary schools and Chinese media.
Ouyang Yujing praised Hua Bo for "retaining the recollection of overseas Chinese in Malaysia and overseas Chinese in their homeland" and "retaining the true record of the history of the struggle and development of the ancestors, the contributions made to the development and construction of Malaysia and the motherland, and the promotion of friendly exchanges between China and Malaysia." He said: At present, The relations between China and Malaysia continue to maintain a healthy and stable development, and he hopes that The President of China, together with the all-Malaysian Chinese Society, will continue to make greater contributions to friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
