Nanyue Ancient Yidao is a valuable historical and cultural resource of Guangdong Province, since 2016, Guangdong has carried out the protection, restoration and revitalization of Nanyue Ancient Yidao, and important discoveries and research results have emerged, which has become a useful practice to help the deep integration of cultural tourism and rural revitalization.
In this process, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Shaoguan College and other provincial universities and Guangdong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Guangdong Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Guangdong Urban and Rural Planning and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd., Guangdong Audio-Visual Publishing House, Under the guidance of the Provincial Department of Natural Resources, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and other provincial departments, 12 research institutions such as the Guangzhou Lingnan Architectural Research Center have actively responded and acted, and have successively set up the Ancient Yidao Research Center or practice base, and have deeply participated in the archaeology, research, science popularization and revitalization and utilization of the ancient Yidao and the extended history of education in South China during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the history of the "Left Alliance" in Southern Guangdong, the central red traffic line (Guangdong section), etc., and achieved fruitful results, integrated resources, and brought into play. The ancient post road tour is the key "stage" of the provincial tour
In recent years, important research results are emerging around the activation and utilization of the "Nanyue Ancient Yidao". In February 2022, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province announced the list of the first batch of provincial-level "Yidao Rural Hotels", and released 15 "Major Discoveries of Nanyue Ancient Yidao" and the fine routes of Nanyue Ancient Yidao, etc., making new annotations for the protection and utilization of Nanyue Ancient Yidao. After renovation and revitalization in recent years, Nanyue Ancient Yidao has become a Nanyue Avenue carrying cultural memory and rural revitalization.
In addition, the first achievement of the Nanyue Ancient Yidao Digital VR Cultural Tourism Project, "Meiguan-Wuyi Ancient Road", was launched as early as May 2021, through VR interactive panoramic video, the audience can "immersively" feel more than 70 scenes of Meiguan-Wuyi Ancient Road, displaying the field scenery and humanistic connotation of the Ancient Yidao in an audiovisual and immersive way, so that Lingnan culture can be revitalized in the inheritance of digital innovation.

The Nanyue Ancient Yidao Cultural Research Center (Practice Base) of Sun Yat-sen University took the Nanyue Ancient Yidao as the research object, put forward countermeasures and suggestions on common problems such as local linkage and governance extension, cultural and ecological connotation of rural infrastructure construction, and capital and talent support required for the revitalization of rural industries, and wrote "Provincial Historical and Cultural Heritage Activation to Promote Rural Revitalization in the New Era" and was rated as the excellent research report of the CPC Central Party School in 2020. Establish theories and strategies for the protection of architectural heritage
At present, the Guangdong Provincial Cultural Heritage Revitalization and Rural Revitalization Research Center of Guangzhou University and the University of Padua in Italy have jointly constructed the He Xinwu HBIM Architectural Heritage Information Model Database, built a strategic framework for the revitalization of architectural heritage from the perspective of "Ancient Taoism", formulated the preliminary planning strategy and activation countermeasures of Dahu Town in the Guangdong Gandu Section, proposed a progressive linear architectural heritage activation method combining zoning control, negative list and "acupuncture" activation, and formed three conceptual design schemes for activation and utilization based on the dynamic environment of He Xinwu. The Nanyue Ancient Yidao Art and Culture Research Center of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies is committed to promoting the "going out" of Yidao culture and telling good stories of Yidao. In 2020, with the theme of "Academic Exchange and Promotion of Nanyue Ancient Yidao Culture", the research center successfully held a series of international academic exchange activities in well-known universities in Russia, Japan, Portugal, Egypt, Cape Verde, Peru and other 6 countries, and continued to explore new ways to revitalize Nanyue Ancient Yidao.
