In February, after the first rain of spring snow, Teacher Xiao Hongliang gave me a copy of "Xiao Hongliang's 40 Years of Art (1981-2021)". The book contains a large number of texts and his works - from finger paintings from the beginning of school, flowers, birds and landscape works created at various stages, to Liling porcelain paintings. The fineness of book binding, the beauty of layout design, and the richness of the works made me feel like I was ecstatic. This collection condenses Teacher Xiao's forty years of life and artistic explorations - down-to-earth, whipped into it, so that I always have a feeling like Xiangling reading poetry stuck in the throat, but can not accurately describe the wonderful place that makes the heart stir, let alone the feeling of using words on the paper.
Reading Teacher Xiao's picture book is like strolling through jinxia mountain, trickling river, and old alleys in Luokou, as if there is an atmosphere of life and a peaceful power that can soothe my inner irritability and depression.
This small city in Xiangzhong has mountains and rivers, although the mountains are not high, there are many talents; although the rivers are not wide, the Huxiang culture has a long history. Teacher Xiao was born in Si and grew up in Sisi, deeply immersed in edification, often with paper and pencil in hand, recording sparks of inspiration at any time, always using mobile phones to shoot various beautiful moments, WeChat circle of friends, just like a fine and beautiful miniature art exhibition to follow. Over the past few decades, in addition to seeking rice and grain, Teacher Xiao's footsteps have been imprinted on the rivers and mountains of the motherland, wandering and sketching, and incorporating them into book bags to become creative materials. Teacher Xiao, whose hair has been dazzled with stars, is still a teenager, with an interesting soul, wandering in the river of art, and a "diligent" word never stops.
In Teacher Xiao's masterpiece "Ancient Rhyme of Liancheng", the narrow mouth of the blue and white lotus pot is wrapped around the lotus canopy, the three residual lotus leaves and one dead lotus canopy are oblique, and the background is bamboo simple ink characters, and the charm, literary atmosphere and spirit of the city break out of the paper. This is a prophetic work, ahead of the future, up and down, broken and standing, survival and death... Liancheng, in the old and the new, stubbornly walked his own steps, stumbling, hitting his head and breaking the blood and not admitting defeat. The cultural heritage of the ancient city for thousands of years is integrated into the bones and blood of the Xiang people, and one day it will erupt thinly.
"Four Sides of Lotus Blossom" has delicate strokes and bold and warm colors. The south wind blows, and the warm lotus fragrance mixed with the wet water vapor comes to the face, evoking the deeply buried memories in the heart. The wind blows the reeds in June, the staggered growth of the water grass, the beautiful but not demon lotus, the primitive and simple beauty, the bustle of life, like a village girl wild woman pulling her throat across the field and teasing and laughing. The four-corner blue background color is the color of the clothes of the women in Jiangnan Water Village, which reminds people of the gentle Jiangnan and the women working in the fields, and cannot stop the roughness and liveliness in nature, just as this lotus flower grows vigorously and eclectically.
"Flower Shadow Phase and Full Of Clothes", the branches, leaves and fruits of Nan Tianzhu spread from the mouth of the bottle to the bottle body, soaked with sunshine, rain, dew, wind and frost, the long branches of the ink color are dotted with a few pieces of earthy green leaves, and a bird perches on the dead branches, with a sharp beak, twisting its neck, squinting at the fruit, that strand of strength, taste is very interesting. Life is so free, rambling, free and cheerful.
After the age of sixty, Teacher Xiao became more and more calm and indifferent, spoke politely, and often smiled on his face, but his dedication and tenacity to art, and his determination and courage to pursue the path of artistic refinement without distraction, have never changed.
