Since joining the work, Yu Xiang has successively engaged in line operation, line management and distribution operation and inspection, reliability management and distribution line planning, etc., and presided over the construction of a series of distribution network projects such as 110kV Baitian to 10kV line supporting projects, 220kV river-to-river 10kV supporting projects, 110kV Guanzhuang to 10kV supporting projects, and new rural electrification. Every time he encounters difficulties, he can find ways to overcome them, analyze the current network frame, line load, equipment level, distribution transformer load and power quality line by line, check the gap between the current distribution network and the first-class distribution network, and propose reasonable solutions.
In addition to carrying out normal work, he often went to the construction site, and sometimes in order to innovate a solution, he repeatedly checked day and night, so he was granted 4 invention patents and 13 utility model patents. The participating Model Innovation Studio project and QC team have won awards from provincial and municipal companies every year, including two first prizes issued by jiangsu quality associations.

As a communist party member, in 2017, Yu Xiang actively responded to the call of the company's party committee and signed up to go to Tibet to participate in the special assistance work for the transformation of the rural network. In the construction of the project in the Dulong Deqing area, due to the need to constantly coordinate the problems encountered in the project, he did not arrange holiday breaks, nor could he eat on time, coupled with altitude sickness, he once lost more than a dozen pounds. To this end, he also won the honor of the advanced individual of the Jiangsu Provincial Electric Power Company's 2016-2017 special assistance to the new round of rural network transformation and upgrading project in Lhasa, Tibet.
In 2020, in the face of the complex situation of the sudden outbreak of the epidemic, he led all party members of the operation and maintenance and maintenance party branch to face the difficulties and successfully completed 19 technical transformation projects, 41 overhaul projects, 74 operation and maintenance projects, 767 distribution network projects, 1011 rural network projects, 521 industrial expansion projects and the conventional maintenance of the main network line equipment, as well as the defect rectification of distribution network equipment, peak summer, peak winter, automatic FA operation and other tasks throughout the year, and realized the failure-free transformation equipment throughout the year. The goal of reducing the strong shutdown rate and improving the reliability of distribution lines has won the honor of "Power Grid Pioneer Party Branch".

Yu Xiang is also a Class A bid evaluation expert of the State Grid, and must often participate in the qualification review of qualified suppliers organized by the provincial company, the on-site verification of the traceability of the material factory test, the evaluation of the bidding project of the State Grid Provincial Company, and put forward his own modification opinions and elimination suggestions on the review results, which are not competent without certain vocational skills and cultural skills. Therefore, as the head of the department, he maintains the habit of learning everywhere he goes, and infects young people with his own practical actions.
Over the years, he has continuously improved his ability to serve "double carbon" and green transformation through the way of "party building + engineering practice", and in terms of serving new energy, he has taken the initiative to dock door-to-door, and specially opened up a "green channel" to serve the grid connection of photovoltaic power plants. In 2018, the construction period of the external line project of Xinrui Photovoltaic and Herun Photovoltaic Power Station was compressed to less than 40 days. In terms of actively cooperating with the optimization of the business environment, he has created the "three zero" service of implementing zero door-to-door, zero approval and zero investment for low-voltage small and micro customers, and the "three to the household" service of 10 kV and above large and medium-sized enterprise customers' external line project investment to the household, process information pushed to the household, and energy efficiency plan formulation to the household, which not only reduces the cost of user connection, but also promotes the customer's satisfaction with "getting electricity". In 2017, the power grid of Guangyang Lake and Sheyang Lake was seriously damaged, and the production and living electricity of 5510 residents was affected, he quickly responded to the company's emergency plan, organized more than 100 people to devote themselves to emergency repair work, and the two towns all restored power supply on the same day, winning the praise of the masses.
