LOEWE is in the limelight. Since Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson took over the idea in 2013, the Spanish luxury brand has been fully revived, rightfully regaining its position as the top echelon of luxury fashion and creating a considerable number of new followers in the process. With its rise, LOEWE is investing heavily in its retail network, both expanding its store network and transforming existing retail spaces.
The Casa LOEWE flagship store in Barcelona has been located in the historic Casa Lléo i Morera since the 1940s, a gorgeous building designed by the Catalan architect Lluís Domenèch i Montaner (1850-1923) and the latest retail space showcasing the brand's latest design code. Created by Anderson and the brand's in-house design team, the re-creation of the space exposes the original high ceilings and intricate gold leaf decorations that have apparently been preserved and are now paired with glazed Ceràmica Cumella tiles, maple counters and concrete columns.
Furniture by Gerrit Rietveld and Alex Vervoordt is placed side by side with carefully curated antique pieces. Learn about LOEWE's new artistic image and Anderson's deep roots in art, and interior design is clearly a nod to artistic talent, including a live-specific woven bamboo sculpture specially commissioned by Japanese artist Tanabe Chikuunsai IV and a large lace structure by Catalan artist Aurèlia Muoz, presented against a backdrop of blue glazed tiles.
The remodeled Casa LOEWE sells men's and women's clothing, accessories, bags, shoes, small leather goods and perfumes.
