Developer Supermassive Games has been working on choice-driven horror games for years, and it looks like their upcoming full-price indie game, The Quarry, will take that to new heights. In an interview with IGN, game director Will Byles revealed that Quarry Horror will have 1,000 pages of script (about the equivalent of 10 movies) and 186 unique endings.
"You play nine different characters, each with their own story. You will make a choice for them.....
The big choices they may end up making, the smaller choices, you may affect a fairly important relationship. Of course, these must be intertwined. These stories, as you branch through, go far, and then they start to come in again.
It's a bit like the story itself is changing, not always just the end. We've worked out 186 different endings for these characters. Not just life or death, but the overall change of various things that could happen to them. The encounters of the characters in the game will be very different. ”
