When you mention van Brianna's name in pigeon racing, it's like opening the chronology of pigeon racing. The family's top results in the ultra-long distance races are impressively recognized worldwide. André Van Buliana (grandfather of Patrick Drew) was the standard-bearer in Belgium in the longer middle distance, not only because of his performance in his own loft, but also because his base pigeons also achieved a top prize in other lofts.

They haven't forgotten yet...

In Kortrijkstraat, Patrick Drew (56) runs a petrol station opposite his grandfather Andrea's old home, where his top pigeon team is located and whose pigeon racing enthusiasm is no less. There were enough lofts in the garden to keep a large number of pigeons, but Patrick did not do so. A large loft, a small number of pigeons, enough space can enhance the desire of the pigeons for territory. Patrik's mother (78 years old) is still a veritable Van Buliana who is still obsessed with pigeon racing. She has a strong interest in pigeon racing and is an avid pigeon watchman.

At present, Patrick still uses his grandfather's old pigeon breed. The harsh selection allows the old pigeon breed to retain the essence. The fact that the grades have not diminished is a good proof for Patrick that this way does not need to be changed.

It will obviously be easier to make the long distance pigeons that are excellent

It all starts with good pigeons, followed by careful feeding, a little exercise and a little luck. Patrick is humble and understands that a little luck is needed in the long distance races and the dangers lurking during the pigeons' flights and the dangers lurking during them. Every week we hear about some of the best pigeons basketed and experienced long distance pigeons dying on the field. From training to being able to participate in long distance races, breeding pigeons takes time, patience and a little luck, but what is good is always good. Such is the case with the Van Buliana pigeon breed, they are family-loving, reliable and must go home even if they encounter setbacks on the road.

With such a solid foundation, In recent weeks Patrick has not been forgotten in Lauwe.

Feeding is 100% of Patrick's responsibility (two friends will come to help when basketing and clocking). There are 6 pairs of fixed breeders and several pairs of younger pairs that are being tested. The racing team consists of 16 old birds and 35 yearlings. The pigeon trains twice a day and in order for the pigeons to train adequately, he sometimes uses a flag. The pigeons are fed relatively light feed (Vanrobaeys feed) and sweet seeds and peanuts are added near the basket. Before basketing and after returning to the nest, the pigeons are fed electrolytes. The necessary treatment for the prevention of trichomoniasis is carried out, and in order to prevent the disease, the pigeons are examined by a veterinarian in Lanneau (Moen). Before basketing, the pigeons can meet their partner hens and race quietly in the basket.

Yearling Ribona (BE13-3001753) won: 1st provincial and 12th national race

It is not surprising that this two-year-old shallow-spotted was able to finish in his previous prize. He finished 1st West Flanders against 888 pigeons and 12th national 6,576 pigeons at a time of 1,241 meters per minute. Last year, this pigeon showed its ability, winning 9th national 3,238 pigeons from Ripona and now as a 2-year-old, he has once again proved his ability with his achievements.

Its pedigree makes people can't help but snap their fingers. His father won the 2010 Barcelona Golden Wing Award for his outstanding performances (see photos and results). Having won 2nd national, 3rd international and 2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon Barcelona 2006-2010, he is a true master of long distance racing. This top class pigeon was paired with Carla. Carla is also a top class hen that Patrick bought from Frans Van Verdemes. This hen won a 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance Gulleggen 2011 with 1.06% of the points from Ribona and Narbonne. This pair, which has high-quality long-distance pigeon blood, has been a hit, winning a provincial race and finishing ahead of the Cahors national race. Patrick will continue to race this pigeon and we will not be surprised if we find it in the previous prize.

The pattern still works in Lauwe

The results at the Argense are a testament to the model adopted at Lauwe.

Achieved the following results in the Rekkem district:

Old birds 113 pigeons: 10, 13, 15, 16, 17 (5/5) Yearlings 69 p.: 1, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14 (7/11) Provincial yearlings: 2, 19, 24, 51 ,...

The excellent results prove that the model adopted by the loft is still feasible. With the fiercely competitive 2015 Barcelona race approaching and the forecast of hot weather, we are looking forward to the 4 pigeons from Patrick standing out!

Congratulations to the Hubbard team!

Note: Drew was effectively returned to 2 pigeons at the 2015 International Race barcelona, winning a 48th nat. 48th and 1838th nat.
