Of course, players do the same thing in the Thiff simulator.
In fact, I initially rejected the game. However, the message that came first in the game review caught my attention: "It tells you not how to get bad, but how expensive it is to go bad." ”
To figure out what this message meant, I decided to take a risk.
In the game, the player needs to play as a young man from a small European town. In order to facilitate everyone's memory, let's call the protagonist Guo Da. When he was a child, Guo Da had a dream. He wanted to be a Hollywood actor. Unfortunately, the ideal is very full, and the reality is very bone.
His family is poor, there is no air conditioning in the factory where he lives, the wind leaks everywhere, and the winter is cool and the summer is warm. He had no bed and had to curl up on the battered couch every day to sleep. The beggar-like life obviously can't support Guo Da's dream of being an actor, and he can't even get the fare to Hollywood.
Perhaps eager to realize his dreams, or perhaps to make a living, Guoda embarked on the old path of stealing Che Guevara. Like stealing Che Guevara, it didn't take long for him to be caught in the police station.

In fact, if you think about it, this game has many obvious drawbacks. For example, the picture is too rough and the shape is not fine. The NPCs on the street are also very mechanical, not only are there no interactions, but even if they are blocked by cars, they would rather call the police than take a detour.

But what makes everyone play for 10 hours and still steal through the level? First, the game restores the workflow of the real thief as much as possible. Players need to step on their own points, there are no four-dimensional pockets. When stealing, they have to judge the value of the goods themselves, and dispose of different types of stolen goods before selling the stolen goods. For example, before playing the game, I didn't know that a qualified thief should go through drawers from the bottom up, break up the jewelry, and sell it.
There's also a bit like Steam's hot review. The "Thiff Simulator" is actually trying to tell a story or explain a truth to the player. Guo Da worked day and night, worried every day, no friends at three o'clock, and no other life. Stealing can earn thousands of yuan at a time, which seems to be a lot, but in the end, the purchase of household information and upgrading equipment, there is basically little left, often unable to make ends meet.
The game seems to give the player a lot of choices, such as which house to steal, what to steal, and when doing gangster tasks, they can also choose whether to destroy in situ or take it home and sell it. But in fact, no matter how you choose, you're just achieving someone else's goal. From the beginning, the player was set up as a thief who wanted to pay off his debts by stealing, and Guo Da was always just a pawn in someone else's chess game.
If Guo Da hadn't gone to jail, he wouldn't have had to use his life as collateral to owe the gangster family a bail. "I didn't have a choice before, but now I want to be a good person." Finally, after the producer list came out, the game's camera gave Guo Da the crowbar he had found, but one person quietly took it. Who will be the next person to pay the price for choosing to go into the abyss?
