According to the website of the Ministry of National Defense, on April 23, the seventh border defense friendly exchange activity between China and Vietnam was held in Longzhou County, Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Guanghe County, Gaoping City, Gaoping Province, Vietnam, and related port areas.

Wei Fenghe said during the talks that General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have steered the rudder for Sino-Vietnamese relations and led bilateral relations to continue to develop for the better. In the context of the epidemic, the two sides have held friendly exchange activities on border defense for two consecutive years, reflecting the profound friendship of "comrades and brothers" and maintaining the good momentum of friendly exchanges between the armed forces of the two countries. The two militaries should maintain high-level strategic communication, strengthen maritime security cooperation, promote exchanges in professional fields, and close multilateral coordination. It is necessary to improve the border defense cooperation mechanism, crack down on cross-border crimes, do a good job in epidemic prevention and control, and jointly maintain peace and tranquility on the Border between China and Vietnam. It is necessary to properly handle maritime differences, prevent interference and sabotage by countries outside the region, promote cooperation in the South China Sea, and jointly maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Pan Wenjiang thanked China for providing COVID-19 vaccine assistance to Vietnam and wished the 20th CPC National Congress a success. Phan Van Giang said that the development of Vietnam-China relations is a priority of Vietnam's diplomacy, and defense cooperation is an important pillar of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
