Her young girls are always dressed in colorful costumes, very attractive and unique. She rarely painted oil, almost all of them were watercolors and painted wax, and the women in her paintings were somehow covered in gray, unable to see whether it was sadness or joy. She sometimes paints group portraits of women, and the women in them seem to have a kind of indescribable concealment, always wanting to talk and stopping, vaguely revealing the feeling of lace edges.

In art history, Marie Laurentsen was classified as a Cubist school, more precisely "female Cubism". In fact, this classification is not very accurate, because her style is not as decisive and intense as Cubism, and rational analysis is hardly reflected in her paintings. During the "Laundry Boat" period, she was influenced by the likes of Picasso and Braque, using thick black lines and saturated patches of color, but she later moved towards a completely different style, abandoning clear boundaries and rational thinking, with more aesthetic lines and more feminine patches. The change in her style can be seen from the following two self-portraits of different periods.

To describe her paintings in one sentence, it is like being diluted by water, because she only uses grayscale tones, such as pink, sky blue, light gray, these ambiguous colors. Lorantine is highly myopic, her figures have no edges, hazy and blurry; it is not intentionally maverick, this is the world she sees.
