According to the report, in 2021, the total collection of paper documents in Sichuan Provincial Library will be 5.84 million volumes, adding 113,000 volumes; the collection of electronic journals is 30,000 kinds, 5,065,000 electronic books, and 483,000 hours of audio and video resources; 7.859 million papers are included, an increase of 77% year-on-year; and 112 free open digital resource libraries, an increase of 12 year-on-year.
Statistics show that in 2021, Chuantu opened for a total of 319 days, receiving an average of nearly 3,500 readers per day and a total of about 1.1 million readers, an increase of about 450,000 over 2020, an increase of 69% year-on-year. In 2021, the total number of registered borrowers in Sichuan's libraries was 357,000, an increase of 25% over 2020. Among these registered borrowers, young readers accounted for the highest proportion, as many as 273,000, accounting for more than three-quarters.
Despite the high number of registered borrowers among young people, the love of reading among older readers is no less impressive. In 2021, the number of paper literature borrowed by elderly readers per capita was the largest, about 20 volumes, almost twice that of young readers, while the number of paper literature borrowed per capita by readers of all ages showed an increasing trend.
Last year, 49,000 people borrowed books from Chuantu, an increase of more than 20,000 over 2020. They borrowed as many as 606,000 volumes of various types of paper literature, and 12.2 volumes of paper literature were borrowed per capita.
