Major League Baseball has long been committed to greening and environmental protection on the courses of all 30 teams, and every year on Earth Day on April 22, the event is to promote this concept throughout the league.
On this meaningful day, let's take a look at what major leagues have done:
22 teams implement e-waste recycling
22 teams installed energy-efficient LED course lighting
The 19 teams have a food donation program that provides the extra food on the pitch to local food banks or related agencies to help needy residents who need food
The 12 teams have their own stadium gardens, which not only green the environment, but also some of the gardens can produce vegetables and fruits for the vendors and restaurants on their own courts
10 teams set up solar panels at home
The 10 teams have electric vehicle charging stations
The 10 teams have greening groups during the regular season and work with local community groups or universities to help fans sort their garbage correctly
Seven teams permanently abandoned plastic straws at home
Six teams are certified by LEED (International Authoritative Green Construction Safety Assessment Agency) at home
The stadium gardens of The Red Sox Fenway Park
Solar panels at Petco Park
During the offseason, major leagues award the Green Glove Award to the team with the highest recycling rate of waste, which was awarded by the Twin Cities for nearly 100% recycling and reuse of waste, the first time since the award was established that a team other than the Giants and Sailors has won the award.

In addition, as in past years, Major Leagues will continue its efforts to focus on environmental sustainability at Dodgers Stadium and Los Angeles during 2022 All-Star Week, with actual plans including:
Launched the GreenIng Group to strengthen garbage collection at All-Star Week event sites
Install water purifiers in the stadium broadcast room, media room, staff rest area, etc., to reduce the consumption of disposable bottled water
Reduce unnecessary water and energy waste
Conduct food donation programs
In Los Angeles, it is recommended to walk or take more public transportation to Dodge Stadium
And when it comes to environmental protection activities, of course, we must not forget the best example of the big league: the Philadelphia people's "home run tree planting campaign" for many years, and see how they make the local community greener!
