Rockets veteran point guard John Wall hasn't played any game for the Rockets this past season, not because Wall is suffering from injuries, but because the Rockets prefer to give younger players more playing time.
Wall's contract still has $47.3 million in annual salary in 2022-23, which also means that the Rockets need to push for a deal involving Wall or reach a buyout contract this offseason, but the Rockets will have a lot of difficulty in getting to one of these two things.
According to Jack Fisher, a reporter for the Open Stand, if Wall eventually reaches a buyout contract with the Rockets, the Heat and Clippers could be teams interested in Wall.
Wall's addition does boost both teams, but it's undeniable that such a plan only makes sense if Wall reaches a buyout contract with the Rockets.
In addition, Jack Fisher also revealed the inside story of the trade between the Lakers and the Rockets about Wall and Westbrook, and Fisher said that neither team was willing to accept each other's demands:
The Lakers and Rockets are teams trapped in the contracts of Westbrook and Wall, respectively, and it seems unlikely that the two teams will push for a deal involving Westbrook and Wall.
