In March 2022, police in Leshan, Sichuan Province, cracked a case of illegally collecting students' personal information and "accurately selling" students' parents through false publicity, false reporting of qualifications, and exaggeration of facts.

It turned out that there was an optical shop in Leshan, Sichuan Province, which self-appointed as a student vision health service center signed by the "China Caring for the Next Generation Working Committee", the so-called collection of thousands of qualifications and honors, specially for school students to "tailor-made" vision testing exclusive program, but also free.
At first glance, it's a pretty good thing. Therefore, under the label of "enthusiastic public welfare and sincere service to students", some schools have been seduced by it, opened their vigilance, and opened the door for them to collect students' personal information.
With the permission of the school, a group of professionals wearing white coats and holding "professional" equipment came to the campus and talked about various professional terms about vision testing and correction, and the students present were eager to enjoy this "exclusive vision testing program" as soon as possible.
After a professional brainwashing speech, the formal vision test began. Students lined up, patiently waiting for the vision test.
It should be said that the inspection is really checked, but after the inspection, the staff took out a "student vision test notice" out.
This notice can be very mysterious, the first link is the test result, handed over to the school. The second link is a form that requires students to fill in on the spot, including the student's name, gender, age, school and class, height, weight, parent contact number and other detailed personal information.
From October 2021 to March 2022, the spectacle shop collected a total of 11,714 copies of students' personal information without the consent of the school and the students' parents.
Sure enough, within a few days, parents received phone calls or text messages one after another, informing parents that "your child's naked eye vision is low, there is refractive abnormality, and it is necessary to go to the glasses line for a comprehensive visual function and diopter examination, otherwise it will cause irreversible damage to your child's vision, which will affect the child's learning, further education and job search."
Some parents who love their children are under such "flickering", without doubt, they are deceived, take their children to the glasses shop for a "comprehensive examination", and then they are "fooled" to buy a variety of high-priced vision correction products.
After receiving the report, the Sichuan Leshan police quickly launched an investigation and found that the optical shop did illegally collect the personal information of students and parents, and once this information was leaked, it may have a serious impact on the personal privacy of students and parents, and even the safety of personal and property.
According to Article 253-1 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China and Article 4 of the Interpretation of the Supreme People's Court on Several Issues Concerning the Application of Law in Handling Criminal Cases of Infringement of Citizens' Personal Information, Mr. Yang's conduct has been suspected of infringing on citizens' personal information.
At present, the suspect Yang Moumou has been taken criminal compulsory measures by the Leshan police in Sichuan province in accordance with the law.
Although the schools all said that they were unaware of the optical shop's collection of student information, they still had the responsibility for dereliction of duty, and the Education Bureau has dismissed 1 principal and 2 vice principals of the 3 schools involved.
