The first half of title-winning favourites Robertson and Hugel was completed on the third matchday to take a 6-3 lead. In the second half, Robertson continued to exert a strong force, he hit a hundred, and the aggregate score was 10-5 to advance to the round of 16.

Four-time World Champion "Wizard" Higgins was somewhat surprised in the first half with "Thai brother" Takchaia, temporarily trailing his opponents 4-5.
