One day in September 1917, in a farmhouse in Caizhi Village, Puzhai Town, Fengshun County, Guangdong Province, a boy fell to the ground, and his parents gave him a name xie Hanguang.
It is this seemingly ordinary name that shocked the central government and resounded throughout China 70 years later.
Xie Hanguang ranked second in the family, and later there were as many as 11 children in the family, and the parents of farmers had to feed and take care of these children, and they were too busy to touch the ground every day, and there was really no time to take care of the children's learning.
However, Xie Hanguang was both intelligent and competitive, and his studies had always been among the best, and in 1938 he was successfully admitted to the forestry major of the Agricultural College of Guangxi University.
On the university campus, he met Chen Zhonghao and Zhang Bozhe, because they could talk, the three of them soon became good brothers, and it was in the process of interacting with these friends that Xie Hanguang began to quietly participate in some anti-Japanese activities, and the seeds of revolution gradually sprouted in his mind.
In 1942, Xie Hanguang graduated from university and stayed in a farm in Guilin to work, because of his outstanding performance, he soon became the director, using this identity as a cover, and also took advantage of his position, Xie Hanguang developed the farm into an intelligence station for underground work.
At this time, although Xie Hanguang was not yet a party member, he had a strong sense of mission in his heart, was bold and careful in doing things, successfully passed on a lot of important information, and safely sent many comrades who were hunted out of Guangxi.
In 1944, Guangxi fell, Xie Hanguang was forced to leave Guangxi, and he fled all the way to Sichuan.

On August 15, 1945, Japan surrendered, the war finally ended, many people were relieved, thinking that they could finally live a peaceful and stable life, at this time, Xie Hanguang also married his beloved girl Zeng Xiuping.
On October 25, 1945, he unexpectedly received a letter from a teacher who was studying at a university in Guangxi, saying that he was going to work at a forest research institute in Taiwan because Xie Hanguang had done well in school and hoped to go to Taiwan to work as his assistant.
Thinking that he could apply what he had learned, Xie Hanguang gladly agreed to the teacher's invitation, and a few days later, he took his newlywed wife and left for Hong Kong together, preparing to meet the teacher there.
In this life, Xie Hanguang stayed in Hong Kong for only a few days, but this place has become a place that changed his life's destiny.
During his stay in Hong Kong, Su Hui, the head of the South China Branch of the Communist Party of China in Hong Kong, approached Xie Hanguang and solemnly said to him: "Organizationally, I hope that you can do some underground work during your work in Taiwan." He also instructed: "One of your alumni at the university will also go to Taiwan soon, and I hope you can arrange a position for him to facilitate his work." ”

Originally thought to be going to Taiwan to engage in forestry work, now suddenly there is a hidden and arduous task, Xie Hanguang is well aware of the dangers involved, so he decided not to take his wife with him, he explained to his wife, because of some special reasons can not take her with them, the wife is reasonable, expressed understanding.
Then, Xie Hanguang left a sentence: "Wait for me to come back!" He hurriedly went to Taiwan with his teacher.
At that time, Xie Hanguang, thinking about a few years at most, came back to reunite with his wife. At that time, Zeng Xiuping also felt that her husband would not need too long to return, so she returned to her hometown in Guangdong and planned to wait for him to return home.
At the beginning of 1946, Xie Hanguang came to Taiwan, and the teacher arranged for him to work in the "Taiwan Provincial Forestry Experimental Institute", where Xie Hanguang's work performance was still outstanding and was unanimously recognized by his colleagues, which also created favorable conditions for him to lurk for a long time.
A few months later, his teacher, who was also the director at the time, sought another high, so he recommended him to become the director, which made it more convenient for Xie Hanguang to carry out his work.

In those years, in order to cover up his special identity, Xie Hanguang actively carried out research work at the Institute of Forestry Research, and in December 1947, he also co-authored and published a paper with colleagues entitled "Forest Stand Survey and Preliminary Research".
As more and more underground workers arrive in Taiwan, Taiwan's underground intelligence network is becoming more and more perfect, and everything seems to be developing in a beautiful direction. During this period, Comrades Xie Hanguang, Chen Zhonghao, and others planned and printed the Guangming Bao, hoping to publicize revolutionary and progressive ideas to more people.
The newspaper was printed in a cave in the wilderness, and no one found it, but the Guangming Newspaper from the cave was distributed to many people, and finally, even Chen Cheng, the chairman of Taiwan Province at the time, received a copy.
When Chiang Kai-shek learned of this, he was very annoyed and ordered that the matter be thoroughly investigated immediately.
Soon after, Zhong Haodong, the main person in charge of guangming newspaper, was arrested, but no matter how hard the enemy tortured him to extract a confession, he never said anything, and was finally brutally killed.
On January 29, 1950, Cai Xiaoqian, an underground worker of the Chinese Communist Party in Taiwan, was arrested, unable to resist severe torture to extract a confession, and he recruited, which also triggered the disaster of underground workers in Taiwan, with more than 400 people arrested and more than 1,800 implicated.
But Xie Hanguang is a lucky one.
One day in March 1950, Xie Hanguang received a letter from a stranger, opened it, and it was written by Zhang Bozhe, saying: "There is danger, leave quickly!" He also attached 30 yuan to the letter. Xie Hanguang realized that the situation was critical, and immediately packed up his things and left.
A few days later, Xie Hanguang was told that after he left, someone from the Nationalist government had indeed searched the Lin Research Institute.
On the other hand, Xie Hanguang, according to Zhang Bozhe's opinion, went to the forest farm area in eastern Taiwan, and on the way, he met a peasant elder brother named Yang Xibo, and when he saw that he was fleeing, he was kind enough to come forward to inquire, and Xie Hanguang falsely claimed that he was a kuomintang deserter.
Because the people were quite critical of the Kuomintang's arrest of Zhuang Ding, they also developed sympathy for Xie Hanguang.
Yang Xibo took Xie Hanguang to his home to hide, and a few days later, for safety, he hid him in a cave 20 miles away and brought him food every day.
A few months later, the situation did not improve for a long time, and the farmer named Yang Xibo also found the village chief and asked Xie Hanguang to replace Ye Yikui, who had been missing in the village for more than a year, so Xie Hanguang had a new legal and safe identity in Taiwan, and also re-applied for a household registration book and identity card.
At this time, Xie Hanguang also heard the news of Zhang Bozhe's sacrifice, because he wanted to cover the departure of more revolutionary comrades-in-arms, but he did not have time to evacuate.
The best comrades and brothers were sacrificed, and Xie Hanguang was grief-stricken in his heart, but he could only grit his teeth and insist.
Since then, he has lived in the village and then worked in a nearby forest farm. The people in the village looked at him alone, not young, and enthusiastically introduced him to the object, but he was concerned about his wife who was far away from the mainland and insisted on not marrying. In those years, he thought day and night, hoping to come home early and reunite with his wife.
However, year after year, 10 years have passed, 20 years have passed, and there is still no way to return to the mainland, because of the blockade of the Taiwan authorities, neither can they get news of their families, nor can they write letters home; every day, Xie Hanguang's heart is anxious, but he still tells himself: "Be strong, and believe that you will definitely get the day when the willows and flowers will shine!" ”
