People's Daily overseas network quoted the Russian news website today reported that on the 18th local time, Turkey launched a military operation in Iraq, and the military used artillery, helicopters and other equipment. The operation targeted PKK militants in northern Iraq.

Turkish Defense Minister Akar announced on the 18th that an important cross-border military operation has been launched against Iraq, which involves both ground operations of assault forces and extensive air strikes by jets, helicopters and drones.
Turkey claims that ground forces have successfully destroyed multiple cover blocks, tunnels and ammunition depots, as well as several PKK military positions in northern Iraq, before entering Iraq. Akar said the operation was aimed only at "terrorists".
