When Xue Yibin, the "grassroots singer" of Linxian County, was 12 years old, he was stuck in a pile of paper and listened to his master humming folk songs in northern Shaanxi, or he heard it and saw it, or imperceptibly, and along the way, he could get his hands on it. Until he got acquainted with Shi Zhanming, the "King of Sheep Song", chased after the sheep, threw the sheep whip, and his voice suddenly opened——

These two songs are authentic northern Shaanxi folk songs. Born on the bank of the Yellow River and raised deep in the mountains, Xue Yibin has been humming and singing since he was a child.

Xue Yibin couldn't say how much he liked folk songs, nor did he think that God had given him a good voice. I just like the tune in the folk songs, and I like the feeling of shouting and going crazy.

On the evening of April 10, 2021, Xue Yibin received applause from many viewers at the CCTV "Avenue of Stars" a northern Shaanxi folk song "Ninety-nine Bends of the Yellow River under the World". With master Shi Zhanming, he sang Zuo Quan's "Blossom Tune" "With a Mind to Take It Slowly", with solid singing skills and high-pitched style, and won the "Popularity Champion" in one fell swoop.

Bao Bao is Xue Yibin's nickname, and everyone in the village is called so. Looking at this name, you can see how much his parents prefer him, but preference is one thing, and whether he has the ability to raise him is another.

Born in the 1980s, Xue Yibin suffered from sheep madness and frailty since childhood. At that time, although a large family could barely fill their stomachs, because of his illness, the family's life was much more difficult than that of other families in the village. Xue Yibin recalled that he had to take medicine every day, and he also had to take injections and infusions at both ends for three days, and he ate more medicine than rice throughout the year.

"If you can't eat well, where will you get the money to buy medicine?" Xue Yibin told reporters about his experience, "Once I was ill, my mother was in a hurry to find a doctor, because it was far from the township, the road was not easy to walk, and I fell down on the road several times; in order to raise money for myself to buy medicine, my father looked for someone to borrow next to the door, and the medical expenses of less than 10 yuan were twisted on the old face and knelt down to beg for people to borrow back. ”

"There were really no people in those days, and every family was in difficulty." Xue Yibin said.

When he was 12 years old, a few pills of "Tulangzhong" went to Xue Yibin's disease root, spending a total of 62 yuan. But Xue Yibin's family was plagued by famine.

After recovering from his illness and recovering his body, Xue Yibin decided to quit school to earn money. But he is still a stinking boy, to have no technology, to have no strength, to talk about which door to make money.

That year, Xue Yibin apprenticed an "old single stick" in the village who made paper tying.

Teenage children, know what is "making paper"? For parents, there is no hope that Xue Yibin can do anything, even if his children will be "old single sticks" in the future, at least there is a craft to earn food. At that time, the first thing I did when I learned the craft was to get up early in the morning to pour a urinal for Master. I put on the urinal and urinal, and I must not be able to sleep when I am lazy. I went early, and Master hadn't gotten up yet, disturbing Master. It was too late to go, the urinal did not fall out, there was a stomach and obstruction, and the master was not satisfied. The clever child, with his hands, feet, eyes and ears, heard movement in Master's kiln, Xue Yibin quickly pushed the door in, took the urinal and poured it out, and then prepared to make paper for the whole day.

Master looked at this child with a clever look, and he would bring important things with him in the future. This gave Xue Yibin many opportunities to go out of the mountain, and also let him see the wonderful outside of Xiaotaze Village.

The most paper-tying is probably the folk drum band in the country house. There were more opportunities to go out, and Xue Yibin heard that there were red and white happy events in which village he ran to see it. One year, Xiao Ta Ze Village also wanted to form a drum band, and Xue Yibin joined. When the drum band is alive, he goes out, when there is no work, he helps the master, and sometimes goes to the porcelain kiln in the village to pound bricks and mud, and at the end of the day, he also earns seven or eight yuan.

Following the drum band around the village, Xue Yibin learned to blow the whistle. With his craftsmanship, he has the confidence to go out of the mountains.

At the age of 17, Xue Yibin really wanted to go out.

Deep in the mountains on the banks of the Yellow River, very deep. Stepping over the beams, stretching his neck and shouting at the farthest point, the echo on the opposite hill always seemed so long.

"To go out, you must go out, no matter how hard it is, I am willing to endure." The fifteenth day of the second month of the lunar calendar is the annual ancient temple fair in Xiaotaze Village. On this day, the village will invite the opera team to set up a stage to sing. When he was 17 years old, Xue Yibin heard that the drama team was a student of an art school led by a teacher named Ma Shaoyi in the county to sing opera, so he took the initiative to talk to Ma Shaoyi, wanting to wait for the play to finish, and followEd Ma Shaoyi to the county town to learn crafts.

The play was almost over, and Ma Shaoyi did not give Xue Yibin a word of encouragement. Xue Yibin was anxious and found Ma Shaoyi again.

During a performance, Xue Yibin met Zhao Enzhu, the "master of three strings" of Shanxi Jin opera.

Jinhu, second string, third string, and four strings are the "four major pieces" of Jin opera, and one is indispensable. "Only with them can there be Jin opera music, and only with them can they be called Jin opera." Xue Yibin understood the importance of the three strings better, and always thought that his skills could be improved again. What he did not expect was that when Teacher Zhao Enzhu listened to the three strings he played, he directly recommended him to the Shanxi Provincial Drama Vocational College for professional study.

Xue Yibin cherished his studies in the province. Because he was the oldest in the class, coupled with some skills and every professional skill, Xue Yibin mastered it much faster than other students. On Saturdays and Sundays, Xue Yibin will go out to find work to do, and the money earned will subsidize the family in addition to his own expenses. In 2015, Xue Yibin met two bosses of Jin Zhongxiu, both of whom are fans of Jin opera. Cai Chunwang likes to listen to the three strings, and Xue Yibin plays the three strings full-time in Cai Chunwang's company. Ji Fengxun likes to play the second string, and whenever he cooperates with Xue Yibin, the two people talk and laugh, as if they have found a confidant. The two often amused Xue Yibin: "Artistically you are our teacher, and at work you are our employee." ”

Xue Yibin knew that his pursuit was far more than that. When immersed in the opera with the two bosses, there was still a little relief in my heart. But when I was alone, I suddenly felt that something was missing, something was lost.

"Folk songs don't revolve around experts and professors, you sing them. You didn't live in the countryside, you didn't go deep into the mountains to herd sheep, you didn't suffer hardships. No matter how you sing, you will lose the taste of the song. ”

Xue Yibin always had this teaching of Master in his mind. Each time he chased the sheep up the mountain, he felt that the ups and downs of each mountain were similar to the rhythm of the blossoming tune.
