Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Public Security jointly listed and supervised five extraordinarily large cross-border telecommunications network fraud cases, including the "12.30" case in Zhejiang. The procuratorial organs and public security organs solemnly warned the criminals who were stranded abroad to evade legal sanctions to have a clear understanding of the situation, not to take any chances, and to return to China as soon as possible and surrender themselves.

5 extraordinarily large cross-border telecommunications network fraud crimes

1. Zhejiang "12.30" telecommunications network fraud case

In December 2020, Zhejiang public security organs conducted a centralized study and judgment on the clues of overseas telecom network fraud gangs, and dug deep into a telecommunications network fraud group entrenched in Cambodia. The public security organs preliminarily found that the fraud group had set up a false investment platform abroad to defraud mainland citizens. More than 400 fraud dens and related criminals have been arrested, and the amount involved is more than 150 million yuan.

2. Fujian "4.09" telecommunications network fraud case

In April 2021, Fujian public security organs started with clues about the smuggling of people in the province and dug up a telecommunications network fraud group entrenched in northern Myanmar. The public security organs have preliminarily ascertained that the fraud syndicate has successively set up dens in some southeast Asian countries to carry out telecommunications network fraud such as false investment and financial management and single bill brushing against mainland citizens. More than 80 fraud dens and related criminals have been arrested, and the amount involved is more than 60 million yuan.

3. Henan "6.20" telecommunications network fraud case

In June 2021, Henan public security organs dug up a telecommunications network fraud group entrenched in northern Myanmar based on clues reported by victims. The public security organs preliminarily found that from February 2019 to July 2021, the fraud group successively set up dens in many places in northern Myanmar to carry out telecommunications network fraud against mainland citizens. More than 100 fraud dens and related criminals have been arrested, and the amount involved is more than RMB120 million.

4. Hunan "8.07" telecommunications network fraud case

In August 2021, Hunan public security organs started with the clues of the "broken card" operation and dug up a telecommunications network fraud group entrenched in northern Myanmar and a criminal gang that sold bank cards in the province. The public security organs have preliminarily ascertained that the fraudulent group has repeatedly organized personnel to smuggle people abroad to engage in fraudulent activities, and has set up a false investment platform abroad to defraud mainland citizens; the card trafficking gang has long organized domestic personnel to illegally buy and sell bank cards. More than 70 fraud dens and card trafficking gangs have been arrested, and the amount involved is more than 30 million yuan.

5. Chongqing "6.15" telecommunications network fraud case

In June 2021, while verifying clues about the case, Chongqing public security organs dug up a telecommunications network fraud group entrenched overseas. The public security organs preliminarily found that the fraud syndicate had successively defrauded mainland citizens in Myanmar and other places by setting up false investment trading platforms. More than 100 fraud dens and related criminals have been arrested, and the amount involved is more than RMB120 million.
