With the regular season coming to an end and the Lakers missing out on the playoffs, the question of Russell Westbrook's whereabouts remains is unknown, and there's no way to determine which team Westbrook will be sent to.
The Hornets have been mentioned many times in the past, but it's not yet certain whether Westbrook wants to join the Hornets or whether the Hornets can offer the Lakers the right offer. According to NBA analyst Mark Stein, another team that can absorb Westbrook's contract and offer suitable trading chips is the Pacers:
"Another possible (potential deal) option is the Pacers, the Lakers are interested in Buddy Hield, who was sent to the Pacers in deals involving Halliburton as well as Sabonis, and is likely to be sent to the Lakers with Brogden in a deal involving Westbrook."
"Presumably, the Pacers have no interest in Westbrook's expiring contract, a deal that depends on what kind of draft pick compensation the Lakers are willing to offer, which would give the Pacers greater interest in the deal."
As Mark Stein talked about, whether the Lakers can persuade the Pacers to push for a deal involving Westbrook in the case of Hield and Brogdon is still a premise on which trading chips the Lakers are willing to send.
Even if the Pacers traded Westbrook is definitely to get back the future chips, but Westbrook can still become a mentor for young players like Halliburton after joining the Pacers, of course, such a deal seems unlikely to eventually become a reality, at least whether the Lakers are willing to send out future draft picks is still unknown, and it is not a simple thing for the Pacers to absorb Westbrook's contract.
