Wearing masks and medical isolation masks and delivering bags of epidemic prevention service packages to the doorsteps of citizens in need is the voluntary work that Hong Kong barrister Wu Yingpeng has to take into account often while dealing with busy legal affairs since the outbreak of the fifth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong.

"In the early days, there was a shortage of equipment and an urgent situation, and protective clothing could not be bought in the market, and many volunteers wore masks, face shields and gloves on the front line. Fear of infection is definitely there, can only avoid face-to-face contact, put the materials across the door of the infected family door, and then disinfect the whole body after completion. Wu Yingpeng, vice president of the Election Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee and the Federation of Hong Kong Zhanjiang Community Organizations, said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Network a few days ago: "Later, a large number of mainland aid materials arrived, and the front-line volunteers put on a full set of protective clothing, and really thanked the state for its support. ”

Since February, the Hong Kong Zhanjiang Youth Federation, chaired by Wu Yingpeng, has participated in many anti-epidemic volunteer activities and assisted the Home Affairs Bureau in packaging rapid virus test kits on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year to supply the frontline of the fight against the epidemic. As the epidemic intensified, the Hong Kong Zhanjiang Youth Federation and other associations jointly organized the "Fighting the Epidemic with One Wind and One Heart" activity, distributing anti-epidemic materials and food to 300 grassroots families. He also actively contacted local materials and donated anti-epidemic materials such as rapid test boxes and proprietary Chinese medicines to fellow villagers. In response to the three-day rapid anti-epidemic test for all employees in Hong Kong, he recently led volunteers to participate in the packaging of the SAR Government's epidemic prevention service package.

"It is our fine tradition to help each other in the same boat and watch over each other, and I have also seen the warmth and courage to sacrifice myself for others and overcome difficulties together in this wave of the epidemic." Wu Yingpeng, who came to Hong Kong from the mainland in 2013, introduced that many volunteers of the Zhanjiang Community Federation and its affiliates were infected because of the fight against the epidemic, but they returned to the frontline to support as soon as they recovered. A volunteer who is also a district councillor still works from home with a sick illness after being infected, answering dozens of calls for help every day. A female volunteer who had recovered from the epidemic said to him: "I now have antibodies, stronger than you, and if there is any task, I will do it!" There are also retired elders of the society who are also involved in transporting supplies.

"It is this spirit of solidarity that keeps me confident in difficult times." Wu Yingpeng said.

Wu Yingpeng, who is a lawyer in both the Mainland and Hong Kong, has also used his legal knowledge to support the fight against the epidemic, not only successfully handling criminal cases involving quarantine legislation and providing voluntary legal advice to relevant citizens in need, but also published articles in various media calling for active reference to the country's anti-epidemic experience and flexible use of legal means to fight the epidemic, arguing that there is a solid legal foundation for mainland medical support in Hong Kong.

"It is a pleasure to be able to use my legal knowledge to make a modest contribution to the fight against the epidemic and feel that what I have learned is useful." Wu Yingpeng said that he believes that with the strong support of the state, all walks of life in Hong Kong will fight the epidemic with one heart and will certainly be able to defeat the epidemic.
