In 1959, Pan Yuliang won the Grand Prix of d'Orlée at the University of Paris and became the first Chinese painter to enter the Louvre.

In 1977, at the age of 82, Pan Yuliang entrusted a friend to bring her relics and more than 2,000 paintings back to China before her death.
