There is another world hidden in the paintings of the "Star Children"

On April 2, the 15th World Autism Day, the Children's Rehabilitation Center of the North District of Chengdu Integrative Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital (a hospital in chengdu) launched a special activity of "Caring for The Stars, Guarding the Star Sea", which integrates "real-life teaching and game training" to tap the potential and cultivate the strengths of children suffering from autism, and help them find their own "window".

A special exhibition was held at the event site, more than 60 paintings of the world drawn from the hands of autistic children, or drawing images, or freehand... Innocence and innocence are evident in the painting. At the scene, a green firework pattern attracted everyone's attention, and the author of the painting "Fireworks" was a 4-year-old child Dabao. Dabao suffers from "total developmental delay", his two twin sisters suffer from autism, and all three brothers and sisters are treated at the Children's Rehabilitation Center of Chengdu Integrative Medicine Hospital.

Dabao's mother told reporters that the two brilliant fireworks represent Dabao's two younger sisters and express the small world in his heart. A year ago, when the children first arrived at the hospital for treatment, the twin sisters did not communicate with anyone at all, and Dabao was immersed in his own world, rolling around the wall with a toy car, screaming that only he could understand. Mom said that Dabao likes to observe the colors around him and paint the picture on the canvas, these unexpected brilliant colors, behind which hides Dabao's inner world. After a year of treatment, the children's condition improved, Dabao was able to speak and communicate normally, and the two younger sisters also went to normal kindergartens with other children, and the fate of the three brothers and sisters was changed.

Kong Mian, head of the North District Children's Rehabilitation Center of Chengdu Integrative Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital (a hospital in chengdu), said that the original intention of holding this exhibition was to let everyone see and understand that children with autism are not "isolated from the world" as everyone imagines, and their world is also very rich, but they cannot communicate with the outside world like ordinary people. As can be seen from Dabao's paintings, he is very concerned about the world and eager to be communicated.

Kong Mian said that autism is also called autism, and patients are also known as "children of the stars". They have bright eyes but avoid the eyes of others; they have sensitive hearing but are unable to respond to the calls of others, like the stars in the sky twinkling alone in the darkness. Unlike autistic people with extraordinary memory and mental arithmetic abilities in film and television works, most autistic people in reality are not geniuses. According to the survey data of the "Report on the Development of China's Autism Education and Rehabilitation Industry", there are currently more than 10 million autistic patients in China, of which more than 2 million are children aged 0-14 years old, and they are growing at a rate of nearly 200,000 per year. Although autism is a lifelong chronic disease, understanding and acceptance from society can help them feel the colorful world. Early diagnosis and early intervention are particularly important for people with autism. Symptoms of autism generally appear gradually in children between the ages of 1.5 and 2 years, and the early symptoms that parents are prone to notice are language disorders. When ordinary people meet autistic people, looking at this group with equality, respect, and understanding is the greatest respect for them.

Kong Mian reminded that children should seek medical treatment in time if the following phenomena occur in infancy: avoid eye contact, lack of interest and response to the calls and teasing of others; there is no expectation of being picked up or when the body is stiff, unwilling to be close to people, lack of social smiles, do not observe and imitate the simple movements of others; lack of attachment to the main caregiver, lack of fear of strangers, lack of interest in interacting and playing with children of the same age, and there are problems with communication methods and skills. If parents can find out the differences in their children as soon as possible, they can win a very valuable opportunity for medical treatment and early intervention, which can significantly improve the future survival status of children with autism.
