Florian's pigeon life
Every second counts florian: the end of a season marks the beginning of a new season! As soon as the season is over, I pair the hens with the cocks. After a few days some of the hens start laying eggs, others may be late. When all the hens have laid eggs, I take all the eggs and let them lay a second round of eggs, which they can hatch and feed the young birds. Doing this is just to give them a chance to stay together for a longer period of time. Medications are not used during this period or around the moulting period. If the pigeons are not in good health, antibiotics are never used. Reinerbeck is my full-time doctor for racing pigeons and if there is any problem with the pigeon I will let him diagnose it and treat it as he recommends.
In the winter, due to the birds of prey, I had to close the shed to cancel all home flights. Even so, a few days after the last race, some of my pigeons had already been attacked by birds of prey. This is especially true for the young birds, who have to stop flying before the last race. Win with quality! Florian: I started pairing at the beginning of February, and it was as simple as opening the sliding partition door and letting the hens and cocks fall in love freely and find their own company. Since many fanciers asked me this year to introduce pigeons, I had to start pairing the breeding pigeons at the beginning of January and the young birds were booked by 3 lofts. Usually my breeding pigeons don't start pairing until early February. I don't make special preparations before the pairing, because my pigeons are always in top condition all year round. Florian: At the beginning of April the loft opens and all the pigeons start flying at home. The hen cocks fly separately. I will definitely observe the scene when I fly home. When they can fly home for more than 20 minutes at a time for 4-5 consecutive days, it means that their status has begun to participate in the training. But I was always very careful in the early days of training. 3, 6, 8 km slowly increasing. In the beginning, I will do training every day, but it will not be very far away.
Training
Florian: The week at the end of April is my holiday, every year. It's easy for me, fully immersed in pigeon racing, training and letting go and letting go! Usually I let the pigeons participate in the last warm-up race of the club. After the start of the season, I will do training at least 2 times a week. 40 km each time. Every time, we will train with 2-3 lofts. I have also trained over large distances in the past, but I personally believe that distance is not the decisive factor.

Florian: All pigeons eat the top mix of Lonfier's feed. It is also a base feed, with the addition of hemp seeds, brown rice, melon seeds and sesame seeds. Everything goes according to my feelings, and when I feel that they are well eaten, they stop. The proportion of brown rice will be higher after the race, and the oil crop will increase relatively during the preparation period of the next race. I always have some peanuts in my pocket as a small reward for them.
Young birds
Florian: In the past, when I used to use the shading method, I started to train the young birds, which is also a practice that most fanciers agree with. But now I've changed my mind.
At the beginning of this year I started the training of the young birds early, and when they start flying normally, the training and release starts. At least 2 times a week. On the day of basketing, I also conduct experimental short-distance training.
For fanciers, it is important to observe the pigeons frequently. Take a closer look! Everything does not need to be done step by step, but should be flexibly adjusted according to the actual situation of the pigeons. Be sure to know what the pigeons need and what we should give! You may think that doing so will disturb the pigeons, but in fact it is difficult to describe in words, it is a keen sense of the pigeons!
