Before deciding to do IVF, test your success rate?

Before deciding to do IVF, test your success rate?

"What is my success rate in IVF?" The question and "How much does it cost me to do IVF?" It is very difficult to answer because it is also a question with a thousand faces.

Before deciding to do IVF, test your success rate?

Everyone's age and physical condition are different, there are many factors that affect the success rate of test tubes, and it is difficult for doctors to give accurate answers at once before understanding the patient's situation and conducting examinations. Still, before making a treatment decision, most people want to know what their success rate in IVF is. According to everyone's needs, today, reproductive medicine experts provide a simple self-test formula, so that everyone has a bottom in mind.

First, let's take a look at the most important factors that affect the success rate of test tubes:

01

Number of eggs

This is the basis for ivy infant success rates. On the third day of the menstrual cycle, the woman can find out the number of her basal follicles by ultrasound.

02

Fertilization success rate

This is not something that patients can judge on their own, it depends on the laboratory technology and environment of the medical institution. In general, embryo fertilization using second- and third-generation IVF techniques has a success rate of about 70-80%.

03

Blastocyst grow-out rate

Blastocysts, which refer to embryos that develop to day 5-6 and differentiate into endoderms and external trophoblasts. Embryos that can develop into blastocysts indicate that their quality and development potential are good, so the implantation rate of blastocysts is often relatively high. But not every embryo can develop to a blastocyst. After excluding the quality factors of the embryo itself, only a well-conditioned laboratory can cultivate about 60% of the fertilized eggs to the blastocyst stage on day 5.

04

Screening rate of genetic problems in embryos

The third generation of IVF will screen the blastocysts for genetic problems and exclude those embryos with genetic diseases, which is closely related to the age of women. Genetic screening of three generations of embryos on the mainland requires clear medical indications. Three generations of test tubes, in China, are not something you can do if you want to.

At present, the assisted reproductive technology projects that our hospital can carry out include artificial insemination (AIH), in vitro fertilization - embryo transfer (IVF-ET, that is, "first generation IVF"), intracytoplasmic sperm microinjection (ICSI, that is, "second generation IVF"), preimplantation embryo genetic diagnosis (PGD, that is, "third generation IVF"). In May 2017, our hospital became the first medical institution in Xinjiang to be approved for the trial operation of the third generation of IVF technology, screening healthy embryo transfer through genetic diagnosis (PGD) and genetic screening (PGS) before embryo implantation, eliminating baby defects, preventing the transmission of family genetic diseases, and making it no longer a dream to have a healthy baby.

Statistics based on the age group of women

For women under the age of 30, the pass rate of screening for embryo genetic problems is about 78%;

For women aged 31 to 35 years, the screening rate for embryo genetic problems is about 65%-70%;

For women aged 36 to 40, the screening rate for embryonic genetic problems is about 50%-60%;

For women aged 41 to 43, the screening rate for embryonic genetic problems is about 30%.

After introducing the above four points, the following, we will start to test the success rate according to the formula.

Taking a 36-year-old woman as an example, there are 10 basic follicles on each side of the ovaries on the left and right sides, a total of 20 follicles, and the success of IVF is calculated according to the following methods, as follows:

Under normal circumstances, 20 follicles can obtain 18 eggs; according to the fertilization rate of 70%, about 13 eggs can be obtained; on the 5th day of culture, it is possible to obtain 7-8 blastocysts; if three more generations of test tubes are done, genetic testing is obtained, and finally in general, about 3-4 chromosomally normal blastocysts are obtained.

If you can get 3-4 normal blastocysts, coupled with the uterine conditions are also up to standard, the success rate of IVF transplantation will be relatively high.

The more healthy embryos there are, the higher the success rate of the test tubes, and vice versa.

At the same time, it is also necessary to consider the age of the woman, after more than 36 years old, with the increase of age, fertilization rate, blastocyst culture rate, and genetic testing rate will be greatly reduced. Unless special IVF treatment regimens are used.

Reproductive medicine experts remind that this formula for the success rate of self-test tubes can help patients make a general understanding of their own condition. Finally, again, everyone's physical condition is different, and the above methods are for reference only.
