Another example of the "myth" that emerged in the Conflict in Ukraine is that of the Russian Navy's Type 22160 patrol vessel Vasily Bekov, which appeared online on March 16, sailed into the port of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula without any visible damage. The Ukrainian military claimed to have sunk the ship in the Black Sea more than a week ago, or at least caused serious damage.

The Vasily Bekov was the first Type 22160 patrol ship to enter service, entering service in 2018. The Russian Navy currently has three patrol ships of this class, all of which are allocated to the Black Sea Fleet.

The Type 22160 patrol ship is one of the most modern warships in the Russian Navy today, and the destruction of one of them is a big loss for Russia. In addition, the Vasily Bekov took part in the Russian army's attack on Snake Island in the western Black Sea. Therefore, sinking this battleship, or seriously damaging this battleship, will have obvious propaganda value.

It is also possible that the Russian Navy will respeal one of two other Type 22160 patrol ships ("Dmitry Rogachev" or "Pavel Dezavin") to cover up the disappearance of Vasily Bekov. However, comparing photos of the ships from March 16 to photos from before March 7 shows that this is not the case.
