Now more than 20 days later, ukraine's always weak armed forces are still struggling to support itself, and have not fled as widely as previously predicted, one of the main reasons is that the West is providing a steady stream of military assistance to the country. Just recently, President Biden of the United States announced that he would increase military assistance to Ukraine, and Biden has officially signed an order to provide Ukraine with various military equipment worth $800 million again.
Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has repeatedly made requests for assistance from Western countries, allowing them to continue to provide a large amount of military equipment to support the resistance of the Ukrainian army, and they are also very interested in various advanced anti-aircraft missile systems and fighter jets. But the West is not stupid, although nato's major member countries have provided the country with a huge amount of various military equipment, but there is no large-scale weapons of destruction. Most of the military equipment aided to Ukraine is also man-portable air defense missile systems and various firearms and ammunition, as well as some first-aid medicines and individual protective equipment.
And just as Biden announced $800 million in military assistance, it included 800 Stinger man-portable air defense missile systems, 2,000 Javelin anti-tank missile systems, 6,000 AT-4 anti-tank systems, 100 tactical drones, 100 rocket launchers, 5,000 automatic rifles, 1,000 pistols, 400 machine guns and 400 pump-action guns.
In addition, Ukraine will be supplied with more than 20 million bullets, rockets and mortar shells, as well as 25,000 bulletproof vests and an equivalent number of helmets. The equipment aided by the United States is also mainly small equipment, and Ukraine has repeatedly requested the supply of former Soviet fighter jets from Poland, but the United States has never agreed.
In order to make Ukraine more effective against Russia, and to avoid Ukraine completely falling into Russian hands, the United States has provided biden with a total of $2 billion worth of military equipment for the country since it came to power, and the United States has provided the country with 5 Mi-17 helicopters and 3 patrol boats. In addition, the list includes more than 600 Stinger man-portable air defence missile systems, 2,600 Javelin anti-tank missile systems, 70 vehicles, anti-artillery combat radar stations, 40 million ammunition, communication systems, medical equipment, satellite imagery and their analysis equipment.
As early as last year, the United States first provided $650 million in security assistance to Ukraine, including various types of air defense and anti-armor equipment, and after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine broke out, the United States urgently provided $350 million in aid, and on Saturday the United States approved another $200 million in aid to Ukraine. Of course, as long as Russia and Ukraine continue to fight, as long as Ukraine's current government has not fallen, U.S. military assistance to the country will never stop.
Although NATO has repeatedly promised that it will never intervene in the war between the two countries, this only shows that NATO will not personally send troops and will not confront the Russian army head-on. The group will continue to provide the Ukrainian government with weapons and equipment to counter Russia. But there is still a serious problem at present, that is, how to transport. Before the outbreak of war, NATO countries could also blatantly use transport aircraft for air transport, but with the deepening of the war, the Russian side has mastered the air supremacy over most of Ukraine's airspace, and NATO countries dare to make a fool of themselves and will certainly be destroyed.
On the land front, NATO countries use all kinds of vehicles for transportation, and even do not hesitate to disguise vehicles full of guns and ammunition as civilian vehicles to continuously deliver equipment to Ukraine. For all this, the Russian side is naturally aware of this, and the Russian army is about to start action, they have clearly stated: in the future, foreign vehicles transporting weapons and ammunition to Ukraine will be within their strike range!
