The real "Royal Rap" Dave from the UK

author:Salvation Redemption

It has not been a long time to update the official account, there is not much time to write, and there is less and less time to listen to songs and check some rappers on wikis and YouTube. First of all, you have to live on it, don't you?

Some time ago, 21savage made a lot of noise about the British, everyone called it royal rap, I really don't know how ignorant the people who say this are. Next up is a native of The British black Dave who recently swept the British charts.

Wanna Know音乐:Dave/Drake - Wanna Know Remix

I first noticed him because of his collaboration with Duck on the single Wanna Know remix. The brainwashing hook, the smooth flow, made my interest in him suddenly increase a lot. British rappers have also had a lot of strong newcomers in recent years, and they have time to sort them out directly.

After working with Duck duck for a long time, I also thought he belonged to the kind of short-lived rapper, and slowly released a single and an ep. It wasn't amazing at least it was refreshing, and it was later learned on Wikipedia that he was in college.

In 2016, Dave released his debut EPSix Pathsin, which was a critical and commercial success after releasing many successful singles. He released "OverEP" in 2017, and his lead single "No Words" reached the top 20 of the UK singles charts. He then released Funky Friday in 2018, which became his debut single as an album. His debut album Psychodrama was released in early 2019 and ranked number one on the UK Albums Chart.

Dave was born on 5 June 1998 in Brixton, south London, the last of three brothers. He grew up near Streatham. Dave began composing music from a very young age and began writing lyrics regularly as a teenager. In 2012, at the age of 14, his mother gave him a piano, and he began writing music. In December 2018, Dave's brother Christopher is currently in prison.

He studied at st Mark's Academy, the Church of Englandschool near mitcham, and later at Grichmond at Thames College, where he studied law, philosophy and ethics, while also completing additional courses in sound design and politics.

Probably knowing his background to know that the album he brought this year is so strong, but also boldly added an 11-minute long single in it, coupled with his unique voice and well-made beat, I really imagine that he is only 21 years old. The 11-minute song "Lesley" tells the story of a woman who goes through an abusive relationship; Dave describes the song as "the story of a man who suffers a complete loss of character because of a person who treats them badly."

The album tells a lot about issues, especially about Dave's struggle with depression. The first song is Dave and a therapist that remain unchanged throughout the album. Other topics include Dave's tensions, poor upbringing, his father's absence and its impact on him, as well as domestic abuse and racial inequality issues. Dave said much of the inspiration for the album came from his brother Christopher, who is serving a prison sentence. Psychodrama's theme comes from the same type of treatment his brother received in prison.

Critics called the album "the boldest and best British rap album of a generation". One British critic described Dave's lyrics as "smart, thoughtful, unflinching and self-aware," adding, "It shows how sharp Dave is as a rapper, and the album lasts most of an hour," and that it runs a minute without wasting or being squeezed out."

Black Music: Dave - Black

The biggest impression I got after listening to this album is that hiphop really belongs to the culture of the whole world, no matter where it is, no matter what color it is, write those lyrics in your own life and cognitive world, and make songs. Dave, 21, discusses his own living environment and family situation, as well as the situation of black people themselves, using his knowledge and what he sees and feels to make the album heard by the world.

Once hiphop thought that if eating and drinking enough came from material needs, then now hiphop is not only eating and drinking enough, but also resonating in the depths of the soul.
