In The Village of Minyong in Hengsha Township, Shanghai, there is a small building standing quietly in the field, with lush potted plants placed at the door, and the house uses old door panels, window flowers, hollow bricks and other unique elements of the island, chic and simple. Five years ago, the owners of the cottage, Wei Liming and Tao Hui, came to Hengsha and slowly converted a small warehouse here into a pottery studio.
The two like-minded people met in ceramics work, and when they first came to Hengsha seven years ago, they were attracted by the wide seaside view, simple folk customs, and slow living conditions. Even the color of the sandy mud is deeply appreciated by the two people, and can be perfectly used in the creation of pottery. Therefore, Wei Liming and Tao Hui followed the guidance of their hearts and dreams, resigned from their posts in the shanghai downtown studio, and came to Hengsha to settle down for a long time.
Abandoned tires on the island, bamboo planted on the island, small pebbles by the sea... Such an interesting space is naturally loved by the children on the island. Gradually getting acquainted with the neighbors, everyone knows that there are two artists in the village, and over time, the two slowly have another identity, "the children's art teacher". The space on the second floor of the studio is also used as an art classroom for children to be creative and creative. The children left one work after another here not only record their growth, but also the memories of Wei Liming and Tao Hui year after year.
From interest classes, to hand-drawn maps in the village, soft decorations of homestays, wall paintings... Wei Liming and Tao Hui are increasingly involved in the rural construction of Hengsha Island. For the two small families, they are fortunate to find an ideal mode of life that can put aside distractions and think slowly; and for Hengsha Township Minyong Village, it is precisely because there are such young people who come to live and start a business, which can drive the industrial development of the village, so that more young people on the island can slowly return and achieve real rural revitalization.
