Qiyun Mountain is one of the four famous mountains of Chinese Taoism, the Taoist "Taoyuan Dongtian". During the Tang Dynasty (758-760), Taoism was introduced to Qiyun Mountain, and xuanwu was followed by the Wudang Mountains, and until Ming Jiajing, Qiyun Mountain Taoism was a sect of the Wudang Mountain Quanzhen Sect, and there has always been a saying that "Xuanwu is on duty in Wudang on the day and stays in Qiyun at night". During the years of Ming Jiajing and Wanli, the Taoist Jiangxi Longhushan Zhengyi sect of Zhang Zhenren's ancestors was ordered to stay in Qiyun Mountain for three generations, build Taoist temples, improve Taoist rules, and incense became increasingly popular, and gradually became the center of Taoist activities in Jiangnan.

The Taoism of Qiyun Mountain is a living fossil of typical Ming Dynasty Taoism, and its Taoist deity offerings and Taoist style, and most of the stone carvings we see are also from the Ming Dynasty. The Characteristics of Taoism in the Ming Dynasty were highly secularized, with the harmony of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.

A large number of palaces, such as the "Jade Void Palace" and the "Dongtian Fudi Ancestral Hall", were also completed with the support of the imperial court. However, the teachings of this period did not develop much, so the status of Qiyun Mountain was increasingly degraded in the Qing Dynasty, and the incense was gradually declining, losing the style of the "fairy city" of the past.
