Jiye adds a new Ding! On March 10, Jinan Wildlife World successfully bred a Malay bear independently, a "little brother", born on September 23, 2021. It is worth mentioning that the Malay bear is more endangered than the giant panda, and the survival rate of the cubs is very low, and it is very difficult to reproduce.

According to reports, the Malay bear is a key protected wild animal at the mainland level, the number of wild distribution is very small, the number of captive populations of malay bears in mainland China is not more than 120, and there are only 3 in Jiye, which is a protected species of Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
Compared to other bear species, the Malay bear has a very "characteristic" appearance – it usually has a U-shaped white or gold "bib" on its chest, which is very different from the "V-neck" on the chest of its neighbor, the Asian black bear or sloth bear. Because this bib is somewhat like the sun, the Malay bear is also called the "sun bear".
Malay bears are also the smallest of all bears, with an average body length of 120-150 cm and a weight of no more than 80 kg. Despite its petite body, the Malay bear has a large head, thick and long canine teeth, and its size is almost the largest in the bear family, and the bite force is not inferior to the brown bears that are two circles larger than it, and it is far more than black bears and sloth bears.
In addition, Malay bears have a "specialty", that is, their tongues are particularly long! Its tongue is about 20-25 cm long, very flexible, and it can eat termites and honey without pressure when sticking out its tongue. It is reported that insects and fruits are the staple food of Malay bears, among which bees are rich in protein larvae and high-calorie honey are their favorites, so they also have a nickname called "honey bear".
The Malay bear is also the only bear that does not hibernate and is also a master of tree climbing. In particular, it is worth mentioning its "escape must kill". According to reports, a circle of skin around the neck of the Malay bear is extremely loose, and if it is bitten by the enemy in the fight, it can also pull up the loose skin to bite the enemy. Isn't that awesome?
