Now, he has donated his most beloved and life-like "Water Margin" character statue to Jiaotong University.

(Today, Mr. Dai Dunbang donated a batch of beloved paintings "Water Margin" to Jiaotong University)
Early this morning, I went to the Minhang Jiaotong University Archives And Culture Management Center to participate in the opening ceremony of the "Good Henzhi of Thick Ink Liangshan, Tasting the Loyalty and Righteousness of water margin - Dai Dunbang's "Water Margin" TV series character modeling exhibition".
Of course, I am very excited to see the original work of a group of characters that Mr. Dai drew for the film series that caused a sensation in the country and affected the world. But after going there, I learned that the old man had made a big deal this time, and this batch of 178 exquisite original manuscripts was donated to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Museum by him.
In just two or three years, Mr. Dai Dunbang has donated sixty "Capital" paintings to Jiaotong University, donated dozens of "Characters of the Xinhai Revolution" to Jiaotong University, and later donated the original manuscripts of "Tang Poems and Song Poetry Paintings" to Jiaotong University, which is also dozens of fine works, and now, he has donated his most beloved and life-like "Water Margin" character statues to Jiaotong University.
Jiaotong University gave him the title of a professor, and the reward was so huge that it was really a big profit!

Of course, Mr. Dai, who is humble and humble, does not think so, he only wants to donate his best works to his alma mater where he has worked, put them in the safest and most reliable place, and let the teachers and students of Jiaotong University share them with the social people, and has never considered the economic value of the works.
At the opening ceremony, the leaders of Jiaotong University accepted the paintings and issued certificates to Elder Dai. Dai Lao's good friend and famous director Zhang Jizhong also attended the ceremony and spoke to reveal the story of finding Dai Dunbang to cooperate. In 1994, when planning to shoot "Water Margin", he went through various materials and finally thought that Dai Dunbang's portrait was the most evocative, so he decided to invite Dai Dunbang out of the mountain. Finally, through Dai Dunbang's friend Bai Birch, he went south to Shanghai to visit him at the Dai Mansion in Tianlin New Village. When he told Dai Dunbang about his intentions, he sighed: "The film crew has no money." Dai Dunbang said two points on the spot: First, the character portrait of "Water Margin" can only be painted by me. Second, not a penny.

Zhang Jizhong was overjoyed to hear this, so he made a friendship with Dai Lao, and then began a legendary cooperation. Is it legendary to let a great painter do it in vain? Don't even think about it today.
"Water Margin" is a classic masterpiece of classical Chinese vernacular novels and is known as one of the "Four Strange Books". The colorful character images and ups and downs of the storyline have become the material for the artistic creation of countless Chinese and foreign painters in ancient and modern times. As early as the Southern Song Dynasty, there was a painting master Li Song who painted portraits of Song Jiang and other figures. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were works such as Du Yan's "Full Map of Water Margin Characters", Chen Hongshou's "Water Margin Leaves" and Ren Xuan's "Water Margin Characters". In Japan, there is also the ukiyo-e painter Utagawa Kuniyoshi's "Water Margin Haojie One Hundred and Eight People". In the contemporary painting world, the painter who completely depicts the story of the Water Margin in the style of Chinese painting and portrays the artistic image of the Water Margin is mr. Dai Dunbang.
At the end of the 1950s, Dai Dunbang first created a comic strip based on "Water Margin", "Three Dozen Zhujiazhuang". After that, he successively illustrated and covered various versions of the "Water Margin" works, and created water margin characters.

In 1994, Dai Dunbang accepted the invitation of Zhang Jizhong to serve as the general designer of the character modeling of the large-scale TV series "Water Margin" of CCTV, and created 184 Water Margin character models. When the film drama was launched, the portrait of this group of characters at the beginning of the film was slowly displayed in front of the audience along with Liu Huan's theme song, and the image of this group of good men in Shuipo Liangshan and a group of negative characters opposed to it was deeply engraved in everyone's mind. It can be said that without this batch of character statues of Dai Dunbang, most actors would not have been able to create such a vivid and vivid artistic image.
Zhang Jizhong once again emphasized at the opening ceremony: "The kind of character personality and accurate expression conveyed in the portrait provide the most vivid portrayal for the director group to select actors. Wearing the old man's stroke also provides a basis for clothing design and makeup design. Even the actor's performance is to grasp the instantaneous and accurate look of the characters in Dai Lao's pen, and take this as a breakthrough to enter the creation of the role. Time passes, and the art of dai lao is eternal. ”
The exhibition, which opened this morning, exhibits 178 artworks created by Mr. Dai Dunbang for the TV series "Water Margin" in the form of physical objects and multimedia, supplemented by the Water Margin character albums of several important painters since the Ming Dynasty, in order to fully present the process of the perfect integration of the classic masterpiece "Water Margin" and the art of painting. The representatives of the university students also performed folk music based on the theme song of "Water Margin" in the scene of "Happy Forest", which cheerfully and enthusiastically created the atmosphere of the exhibition.
At the scene, Ms. Shen Jiahua, the teacher's mother, told me that when she started to create, the upstairs family was renovating, and she couldn't paint all day, and she saw that there was a kindergarten in the community that was vacant during the winter vacation, so she consulted with the leaders of the kindergarten and borrowed it for two months. At that time, the kindergarten did not have air conditioning, and the old man created day and night in a cold environment, painting a batch and sending it to Beijing immediately, and then drawing the second batch, so that the director could select actors, make props and costumes accordingly. In the end, Dai Dunbang paid four hundred yuan in rent to the kindergarten, and the film crew learned about it and said that it could be reimbursed to CCTV, so the teacher and mother let the kindergarten issue an invoice. I think this invoice is also a wonderful "work of art" if it is placed in the exhibition.

At lunch, the old man also revealed a more interesting detail to us. After the success of the TV series, the film crew paid him 30,000 yuan, and the finance department of CCTV informed him to go and claim it. He walked into the finance department carrying an old cloth bag, and an old lady who worked extremely seriously and responsibly looked at him repeatedly, and saw that his heart was straight. Finally, he asked all kinds of questions sternly, "What do you do?" "Why did the film crew give you money?" "Are you acting all over?" The old man was angry: "I don't want this money, can I?" ”
Just as he walked out of the CCTV building in a sullen mood, he was seen by a staff member of the film crew, listened to him say this and so, immediately greeted him, and then invited him back to the finance section, and finally received the money.
I also learned that when filming "Water Margin", there was a liquor company in Shandong that sponsored a sum of money, and later after the business owner saw Dai Dunbang's original work, he was very admired, saying that he invested 2.8 million yuan to buy, but the old man could not bear to give it up. Friends in the crew heard about it and said that they would raise the price to 4 million to promote good things. But the old man had no intention of taking a shot.
Lunch was almost finished, he ran to our table to touch the cup, and said happily: "Take away all the things you can't eat, don't waste, anyway, my paintings have been donated, this table of chickens, ducks, fish, let's let it go." ”
Because of the epidemic, all the personnel attending the opening ceremony today handed in two codes one day in advance, and then checked the code and provided ID card verification when entering the school. Mr. Dai encountered trouble when he entered the school, he usually does not use a mobile phone, so he cannot receive the electronic invitation letter and notification text message issued by the school, and the conscientious and responsible doorman will stop him and not allow him to enter. No matter how much the old man explained, he could not prove that he was a guest of honor, and the doorman did not know that he was the famous great painter Mr. Dai Dunbang.
afterward...... Finally released, the old man shined on the scene.
Next, let's take a look at the details of the paintings donated by Mr. Dai Dunbang
The Water Margin figures under Dai Dunbang's brush absorb the traditional folk painting techniques, which are extremely exaggerated in terms of shape and god, the lines are bold, straightforward and simple, and the characters are rough, bold, and full of masculinity. It appropriately shows the identity, character and skill of the characters, inspiring the viewer to make unlimited associations. These water margin figures with both gods and gods and long charm give vitality to the chinese painting characters, which show the infinite aesthetic value of the excellent traditional art of the nation.
