Ye Jiaying, born in 1924, is an expert and poet of classical Chinese poetry.
Mr. Ye Jiaying graduated from the Department of Chinese Literature of Fu Jen University in Beijing in 1945. He was a full-time professor at National Taiwan University. In 1969, he became a tenured professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1990. In 2012, he was hired as a librarian at the Central Research Museum of Culture and History. He is currently the director of the Institute of Classical Chinese Culture at Nankai University.
Since 1966, Ms. Ye has been invited as a visiting professor and visiting professor by Harvard University, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Michigan, and university of Minnesota. Since 1979, Professor Ye Jiaying has returned to China to teach every year, and has been invited to teach classical Chinese poetry in more than 40 domestic colleges and universities such as Peking University and Nankai University.
In 2016, Mr. Ye Jiaying donated the "Jialing Fund" to the Nankai University Education Foundation, and has completed the initial donation of nearly 36 million yuan, aiming to promote Chinese poetry education globally.
The book took two years to compile, with the high standard of "producing a good book for the master", edited by Professor Shen Liyan, former dean of the College of Letters of Nankai University, and personally reviewed by Mr. Ye, with the latest Chronology of Jialing, the catalogue of works, the honors won, the donations, etc.

This year marks the forty-second year of Mr. Ye Jiaying's return to China to teach. At that time, the students who sat on the floor of the lecture hall and listened to the wonderful sounds of Jialing were older than the ancients, and the few were also close to the ear. However, more than forty years ago, the feeling of drinking alcohol mash and spring breeze has not diminished, or even become more and more intense with life. Therefore, Nankai University's 1982 class of the same window initiative, 1977 class of students below the level of the response, with the consent of Mr. Ye, compiled this illustrated and textual "For the Lotus Flower to Call Me - Ye Jiaying in Nankai". Dong Qi, who is both my student and my friend, invited me to write the preface, and it was incumbent upon me to do so.
When Mr. Ye first came to Nankai, I was a graduate student, attended many classes, and participated in some reception work. The poem "I used to take care of the luggage for pedestrians" is about me helping her pack her. Since then, every year of lectures and lectures, I am also present for most of them. The manuscript of Mr. Wang's "Talking about Poetry and Reminiscences" was completed, and I had the privilege of seeing it first, it was in the middle of the night, and I could not let go of the cover for a long time, and thousands of emotions condensed into a group of small poems:
One
Only fate hinders the present faith,
The heart is full of wonders.
After Yi An sang nandu,
Cool autumn fluctuations.
Second
Big Dipper Jinghua is looking forward to wearing,
Poetic history is boiling.
Seven songs of the same valley,
The silent night is over.

The sky is falling in the air.

The passing water gushes out of the crowd who looks.
From Mr. Ye's life experience, I thought of Li Qingzhao, who was talented and ill-fated, thought of the persistent and deep Du Zimei of "looking at Jinghua according to the Big Dipper", and thought of the beautiful poetry of "a spring dream rain often drifting tiles" and "Wangdi Chunxin to Cuckoo". Xi Murong once recalled the scene of accompanying Mr. Ye to Ye Heshui to find his roots, saying that Mr. Ye stood alone on the earthen platform of Ye Hecheng's former site, surrounded by endless corn fields, and the sunset on the horizon was particularly red and large. In this way, Mr. Ye stood for a long time. The accompanying people looked up from afar and were attracted by this picture. Xi Murong sighed deeply, at that moment, Mr. Ye Jiaying completely integrated into the poetry of "Poetry Classic, Wang Feng" - "Pi Huang is separated, And Pi Ji is the seedling." The line is moving, the center is shaking. "She came across this poem from three thousand years ago, and it can be said that she flowed this poem from her heart, or that she herself was such a timeless poem!"
Mr. Ip Ka Ying is an outstanding poet. The three-thousand-year-old poetic tradition of the Chinese nation has stained her spirit, so it has inspired a poem that is respiring. But she was not just a brilliant poet. In the ninety-seven years of Mr. Ye's life course, nearly seventy years have been practitioners who have undertaken the mission of "Chinese poetry". On both sides of the Taiwan Strait, on both sides of the ocean, she sowed the seeds of poetry culture, and among the students were blonde doctors, old people who were concerned about their homeland, high-ranking officials in important positions, and teenagers with children's hearts... These people often draw the essence of the sun and the moon from the elegant poetry culture through Mr. Ye's teachings like the spring rain of things, and their lives leap to a new level.
It is particularly fortunate that our students in Nankai, especially those in the Nankai Chinese Department, are among the many beneficiaries and the most beneficial group. Naturally, we are also the most grateful disciples. To describe Mr. Ye's poems, her more than 40 years in Nankai Garden can be described as "full of peaches and plums are newly planted" and "a thousand springs are still waiting for Huazi".
The book "Calling Me for Lotus Flowers - Mr. Ye Jiaying in Nankai" in front of me contains dozens of articles and more than 100 frames of pictures, which is the posture of peach and plum white bathed in the light of the three springs for more than forty years, and it is also the fist and fist expectation of Mr. Ye Jiaying who is "waiting for Huazi".
Through the efforts of the compilers, the book has received some precious documents--including the correspondence between mr. husband and the older generation of scholars, as well as the scenes of the happy and harmonious life between the teachers and brothers. I believe that whether it is a disciple who has been intimately loved, or a friend who has not been listed on the wall of the door, he will be infected with the pleasure of living in poetry under the reading, and will have the elegant feeling of string and song.
This precious collection of essays has also triggered the resonance and echo of the string song in my heart, as a heart incense, dedicated to the poetic Nankai Garden, dedicated to the respected Mr. Ye Jiaying:
Tao Li is grateful and heavy, and Hu Lian has become a lot of instruments.
