The number of works reached a new high
The Dongguan Cup received a total of 8,025 design products and works, the highest number ever. The organizing committee of the competition invited 22 well-known scholars and industry experts from first-class professional colleges in China to serve as judges, comprehensively evaluated all works, and screened out more than 350 works to be shortlisted for final evaluation.
Professor He Renke, who was invited to serve as a judge at the first "Dongguan Cup", has participated in the evaluation of the "Dongguan Cup" for the fourth time, and he found that the "Dongguan Cup" has undergone some significant changes in recent years. With the transformation and upgrading of Dongguan's industry, the entries have gradually expanded from the traditional single categories of machinery and footwear to multiple categories such as intelligent manufacturing and health care. Professor He used the term "old race freshman" to describe the Dongguan Industrial Design Competition.
"This year's entries have a wide range of categories, and they closely follow the pulse of the times, with very distinct Dongguan intelligent manufacturing characteristics, reflecting the future development direction of industrial design." 65% of the works come from students
After layers of screening and strict review by the judges, vivo APEX 2020, outdoor self-rescue wearable drones, ladders that can adapt to various ground, multi-purpose crib design and other projects stood out and won the first place in each group of the Dongguan Cup. The three products selected by Vivo Mobile Communication Co., Ltd. swept the gold and bronze awards in the innovative product group, becoming the company with the most awards in the "Dongguan Cup". Among the award-winning products/works, there are both high-tech intelligent terminal equipment and drones, as well as low-tech technologies that pay attention to users and help users solve practical problems. "Good products should be people-oriented, should meet people's needs, should improve people's living standards, this contest has emerged a lot of people-oriented works, and very innovative, such as a non-destructive blood glucose meter, if it can be listed in batches, it will be the gospel of countless diabetics." It is understood that 65% of the works in this year's "Dongguan Cup" collection are from students. The most eye-catching performance of the student works is the Macau University of Science and Technology Cai Jiayi, he took out 12 works in one go to participate in the 2020 Dongguan Cup International Industrial Competition - Hong Kong and Macao Achievement Transformation Competition, 3 design works shortlisted in the top 10, only "automatic thrombolysis watch" 1 design work included "the most market potential award", "the most social value award", "the best student design award" and "healthy aging innovation group innovation and entrepreneurship award" 4 major awards.
