Doing good is a lifelong practice.
When Emperor Ming of Han and King Dongping were chatting, Emperor Ming asked, "What is the pleasure in the world?" ”
King Dongping replied, "It is most joyful to be good." ”
Fan Zhongyan was born into poverty, and when he was young, he secretly resolved that if he could get ahead in the future, he would definitely help the poor people.
Later, when he became an official, he took out Feng Lu to buy righteous land and distributed it to people who did not have land to cultivate. He also provided food and clothing for the people under his rule, and gave money to subsidize those who were married and bereaved.
The Fan family bought a house in Suzhou, and after Mr. Feng Shui saw it, he even said that the feng shui of this house was excellent, and future generations would be a great official.
Fan Zhong drowned and decided to donate the house to the township and turn it into a school. He believed that it was far better to let the children and grandchildren of the people in the city get ahead than to enjoy the blessings of a family alone.
As the saying goes: it is not rich for three generations, but the Fan family has prospered for eight hundred years. Fan Zhongyan's four sons all had both moral integrity and ability, and became prime ministers and high officials.
"Zhou Yi" Yun: "The house of jishan will have YuQing." ”
If you accumulate money for your children and grandchildren, your descendants may not be able to keep it; if you accumulate books for your children and grandchildren, your descendants may not be able to read them; it is better to accumulate yin and virtue in the dark and think that it is a long-term solution for future generations.
You just have to do more good deeds, and the blessings have already come to you and your family.
Second, make good friends
Zeng Guofan said: "The success or failure of a lifetime is related to the merits of friends, and you must not be careless." ”
Dating is about the success or failure of a lifetime, and you must choose the good and make friends.
Confucius said: "Living with good people, such as entering the room of Zhilan, for a long time without smelling its fragrance, that is, dissolving with it; living with unkind people, like entering the abalone, for a long time without smelling its smell, it is also dissolved with it." (See The Sayings of Confucius)
This means that living with good people often is like living in a warm flower house full of orchids, and after a long time, you will not be able to perceive the fragrance, that is, because you have become accustomed to the fragrance of good deeds;
Often get along with unkind people, just like living in a seafood market full of stinky fish and rotten shrimp, after a long time, you can't detect the fishy smell, but also because you are used to smelling the rotten smell of evil deeds.
The sage's words are admonishing us: To get along with people, we must first look at their character.
People with good hearts are not only of high character, but also worthy of respect and emulation in every word and deed.
Why not make friends with such people?

One day, Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang went out on a tour to observe the people's feelings. When he walked to an ancient temple, he was tired and thirsty, so he sat down and rested. A farmer happened to see it and gave him a pot of tea he had brought with him.
Zhu Yuanzhang was grateful for this good relationship, so he gave the farmer a county order. Soon, the news reached the ears of a well-known local scholar.
Shusheng was upset, and wrote in front of the temple gate with a pen: "Under the cold window of ten years, it is better to have a cup of tea." ”
The next year, Zhu Yuanzhang revisited his hometown, saw what Shusheng had written, and returned with a pen: "He is not as good as you, and your life is not as good as his." ”
Everything has a cause. If everything goes well and there is always someone to help you, it is because good causes have been planted and good fates have been formed in the past.
Some people light a street lamp on the road and form a good relationship with pedestrians passing by; some people build a bridge on the river, which forms a good relationship with the residents on both sides of the river; someone digs a well on the edge of the field and forms a good relationship with the people who draft water.
A warm word, a kind smile, and doing some good deeds within your reach can all make good friends.
As long as people have a good heart, good karma is everywhere, and good doors are open everywhere.
