Under the torrent of the times, the humility and helplessness of small people (1)

The Twenty-Four Histories and the Zizhi Tongjian, which record the history of ancient China, tell most of the stories of emperors and generals, princes and nobles, even those notes and the only words left by the literati and inkers of the past generations, and rarely involve ordinary personal lives. And that's exactly what interests me the most. I often wonder how the ancients spent a day without lights, without television, without the Internet. I often wonder how the little people at the bottom of the ancient world lived. I think their work, their joys and sorrows, their encounters, these are far more attractive than the fights on the battlefield.

That's why I like to read Ma Boyong's Daming under the Microscope. Although "Daming Under the Microscope" also involves the lives of small people, it is more of a group portrait of small people, and it involves little about individuals. And Yang Kuisong's Chronicle of the "Marginal Man": The Tragic Story of Several "Problem" Little People" fulfilled my desire to read.

Under the torrent of the times, the humility and helplessness of small people (1)

The book was borrowed from the county library. I didn't know there was a book until I borrowed it. Yang Kuisong's work, I know of "Revolution", but I have not read through it, only some fragments in it. When I saw the book on the shelves of the county library, I did not hesitate to take it off, and after reading it on the shelf for about half an hour, I decided to borrow it and read it. The whole book was over 360 pages and 340,000 words, and I read it for a week. In my reading experience, it is relatively fast. Because this book appealed to me so much. This week, whenever I was at home and whenever I had spare time, I read this book.

The book writes 8 stories of "marginal people". Below, I briefly introduce the stories of these 8 people.

The first story: the return to the "people" road

The protagonist of the story is named Liao Xuechang. In 1949, Liao Xuechang worked as a police officer in the police department of a municipal railway bureau. After the liberation of the city, Liao Xuechang was dismissed and returned to his hometown of K in 1950. Because Liao Xuechang was literate, able to write, and knew how to draw and survey, he was introduced to a technician in the public service office of the subordinate unit of the K City Construction Bureau, with the title of second-level assistant technician. This was originally a good thing, the construction of new homes in the new era, the need for a large number of technical personnel, Liao Xuechang's little technical expertise came in handy, from the old era of railway police to become a new era of unit cadres. At that time, Liao Xuechang should have taken office with expectations and expectations! But, unbeknownst to him, his doom had also begun.

Beginning in 1951, Liao Xuechang was exposed, and before 1949, he served as a member of the National Division, which was a reactionary. Since then, Liao Xuechang has been pulled out again and again to criticize, and has written and written the confession materials one after another. Since then, Liao Xuechang's spirit has been highly nervous, and there is a slight wind and grass around him, and he is worried that someone will come to him to investigate. And the unit's investigation of him is also endless, and the people related to him have been checked over and over again. Although Liao Xuechang repeatedly defended his own history, no one believed the confessions he wrote, and his review and conclusions were "doubtful." In order to wash away his "sins" and return to the "people'" road, Liao Xuechang worked hard in the unit, actively integrated into the unit, and worked hard to perform. However, Liao Xuechang was punished for "concealing history" and was even sent to the farm to reclaim the land. After 1970, Liao Xuechang, who was more than 50 years old, was still in a state of strict control, submitting ideological reports every month and participating in heavy manual labor every day. Although Liao Xuechang will also complain and complain, he still actively works and works actively. On January 9, 1978, Liao Xuechang and his teammates accidentally fell from the car while transporting timber, and the rescue was ineffective and died. He was 62 years old by this time.

After Liao Xuechang's death, the unit issued him a certificate, and in the appraisal materials, he finally recognized his identity, and he finally returned to the list of "people".

The second story: the consequences of concealing history

The protagonist of this story is named Li Lesheng. In August 1925, Li Lesheng was born into a poor urban family. His father worked as a clerk in the county government's field collection office, where he managed the receipts for grain delivered by farmers. Li Lesheng went to school when he was a child, but due to the turmoil and poverty of his family, he dropped out of school only in junior high school. In April 1951, the 26-year-old Li Lesheng was introduced to work as a temporary worker in the M factory in M City because of his literacy. Due to the positive work, it quickly turned positive. Li Lesheng worked very hard in the factory, actively participated in various activities, and was named "Excellent Literacy Teacher" for three consecutive years, and then "Trade Union Activist".

When Li Lesheng entered the factory, he concealed his history of being arrested by the Nationalist army and acting as a caretaker in the Nationalist army health team. This incident became Li Lesheng's heart disease, and as soon as there was wind and grass outside, he was very worried. Despite his hard work in the factory, his positive performance, and his efforts to win the trust of his colleagues, his disgraceful history was exposed. Since then, Li Lesheng's doom has begun. In one review after another, Li Lesheng's spirit almost collapsed. Eventually, he confessed that he had been raped by male comrades during his time as a nurse in the National Army Health Corps. Because he did not realize the seriousness of the problem, it became more and more unmanageable. After entering the factory, he had many relationships with colleagues. This is undoubtedly a major clue for the review team. They followed the vine and touched the melon, and even implicated more than twenty male colleagues. This incident hit Li Lesheng too hard, and in May 1969, Li Lesheng committed suicide by taking poison. But it was found by the workers in time and saved. Later, Li Lesheng repeatedly taught and had a relationship with a male colleague in the same factory, and was arrested. On April 21, 1977, the 52-year-old Li Lesheng was sentenced to seven years in prison for committing "hooliganism."

The third story: the hat that can't be taken off

The protagonist of this story has a very elegant name, called Fang Liren. Fang Liren is a doctor with quite good medical skills. At the end of 1949, fang Liren's N city was liberated. In accordance with the policy requirements of the time, he took the initiative to register his own information and voluntarily explained his history. Of course, Fang Liren did not give all the explanations, but concealed that he had participated in the Kuomintang. In 1951, due to Fang Liren's excellent medical skills, he was hired to work in the municipal staff nursing home. Later, during the review, Fang Liren's "black" history was turned over, and from then on, Fang Liren's nightmare began.

Although Fang Liren has excellent medical skills, treated many leaders, cured many difficult and complicated diseases, but his "black history" has always been his heart disease, and the unit is also very suspicious of this, and has always been uneasy about him, and has included him in the key examination object. Criticism of fighting was indispensable, and he was even sentenced. The most tragic thing was that Fang Liren was sent to the countryside for labor reform. He stayed in the countryside for many years, his body collapsed, his medical skills were abandoned, and his will was depressed, but he never forgot to complain to himself, and he reflected his situation to his superiors one after another. Finally, Huangtian lived up to his painstaking efforts, and in 1979, the 69-year-old Fang Liren finally returned to N City, restored his status as a doctor, and the treatment was gradually resolved. However, Fang Liren was faced with a broken family, it turned out that his son was paraplegic in an accident and became a disabled person who could not take care of himself, his wife suffered from chronic hepatitis and severe anemia, his life was worrying, his daughter became a worker, but she was far away from home and could not take care of her brother and mother.
