author:Obsessed Historian

She was one of the few survivors of the Nanjing Massacre, in the face of the insults of the Japanese, she resolutely resisted, and finally was stabbed 37 times by the Japanese, fortunately, her father sent her to the hospital in time, only to be rescued, in order to prove the authenticity of that history, and to crush the Japanese's refusal to recognize the Nanjing Massacre, this strong woman who escaped death has spent the rest of her life resisting the Japanese.

She used her own personal experience to bravely expose the atrocities in the Japanese army's invasion of China and the Nanjing Massacre, so posterity called it "living evidence" to prove the Nanjing Massacre, which is such a woman who has been victimized but is still willing to bravely stand up and resist, telling us with practical actions: Remember history, do not forget the national shame.

The legendary figure we want to talk about today is named Li Xiuying, she was born on January 1, 1918, originally she should have lived a carefree life like ordinary girls, but unfortunately in the chaotic world, Li Xiuying felt the disasters brought to her by the war early, and it is also these disasters that make her more aware of a truth, only when the country is strong, it will not be bullied.

December 1937, is The time that Li Xiuying can never forget in her life, Li Xiuying, who was only 19 years old at the time, was already seven months pregnant, as long as the child was born, the family had a little more hope, but it was precisely because she was pregnant, so when the Japanese army rushed into Nanjing, she was inconvenient to move, and she could only watch others flee to other places, but she had no way.

Later, under the leadership of his father, Li Xiuying followed his father into the Nanjing International Safety Zone and took refuge in the basement of the "American Church School" of Wutaishan Primary School, which should have been relatively safe, but unfortunately, the Japanese army had already killed the red eye at that time, and finally rushed into the place where Li Xiuying was located.

On December 19, 1937, Li Xiuying was taking refuge in the basement, and her father was not by her side at the time, when suddenly a Japanese soldier broke into the basement and saw the young Li Xiuying, a Japanese soldier who had completely lost his humanity and came forward to try to remove Li Xiuying's buttons and insult her.

Li Xiuying pulled out the bayonet hanging from the waist of the Japanese soldier, planning to take advantage of his lack of preparation to give him a conclusion, but unfortunately this move was discovered by the Japanese soldiers, he controlled Li Xiuying with his backhand, Li Xiuying had no choice but to bite hard at the hand of the Japanese soldier, after the Japanese soldier was bitten, he screamed in pain, this damn cry quickly attracted the other two Japanese soldiers at the door, they walked in the direction of the sound.

After seeing Li Xiuying who was biting the Japanese soldier, the other two Japanese soldiers joined in the ranks of bullying Li Xiuying, in the process, Li Xiuying always grasped the handle of the sword and fought with all his strength against the Japanese soldier who initially insulted her, and after the other two Japanese soldiers saw this scene, they actually used their bayonets to start stabbing at Li Xiuying's legs, body and face, stabbing a total of 37 knives, until Li Xiuying fainted, and the three Japanese soldiers flew away.

When his father came back to see Li Xiuying lying on the ground, he thought that Li Xiuying had died, so he planned to dig a pit to bury it, but just when he was digging the pit, he suddenly heard Li Xiuying start to make a faint sound, and his father rushed to the hospital for rescue.

Fortunately, these injuries are not fatal, so Li Xiuying was eventually rescued, but the child in her belly completely left this world, after this incident, Li Xiuying hated the Japanese army to the bone, and later whenever someone asked her about the history of the Nanjing Massacre, she would bravely stand up and prove everything that had happened with her own personal experience.

After experiencing such a tragic thing, Li Xiuying already hated the Japanese to the bone, so he would bravely stand up and testify against the crime of Japan's invasion of China, but the behavior of some right-wing elements in Japan was simply shameless, they resolutely did not admit to the massacre that had occurred in Nanjing, and even in 1998, the Japanese author Toshio Matsumura also wrote a book "The Great Question of the Nanjing Massacre", in which he claimed that Li Xiuying, who was still alive in 1998, was not Li Xiuying at the time of the Nanjing Massacre. He even slandered Li Xiuying as a "fake witness."

The unwillingness to apologize for the shameless things they have done has touched the bottom line of our people, and now they have actually published a book claiming that Li Xiuying's "living evidence" is false, and this matter has long been not challenging our bottom line, but a naked provocation, and of course we cannot bear it.

In September 1999, Lee filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court, demanding that Toshio Matsumura, as well as the publisher and publisher of the book "The Great Question of the Nanjing Massacre" publicly apologize in the mainstream Japanese media, and compensate Lee for the loss of his right to reputation of 12 million yen.

After eight rounds of debate, the Tokyo District Court finally found the infringement and sentenced the parties to li xiuying to compensate Li Xiuying for damages to the right to reputation of 1.5 million yen, but the Tokyo District Court did not rule on a public apology against Li Xiuying.

In the face of such a result, both sides were not satisfied, so they appealed again, but in the end, after the second trial, the original judgment was upheld, and then Matsumura Toshio was still not satisfied, and appealed to the Japanese Supreme Court, which was undoubtedly a challenge to us again, and the matter developed to this point, in fact, it was not only between Li Xiuying and Matsumura Toshio, but also involved historical issues such as whether Japan recognized the Nanjing Massacre, so we will not give up on this.

It's just a pity that Li Xiuying did not wait for the victory and did not personally see the apology of those right-wingers, and died in 2004, which is undoubtedly a huge regret. After Li Xiuying's death, Yuhua Gongdeyuan sponsored a bust of Li Xiuying for free, which stands next to Li Xiuying's cemetery.

The bottom of the bronze statue was designed by Professor Qian Wei of the Department of Public Art of Nanjing University of the Arts into a multi-prismatic tombstone, a sharp triangular combination, symbolizing the broken bayonet of the Japanese invaders, in order to remind people of the historical events that have happened, hoping that future generations will be able to remember the history of the past when they see this bust.

Above the front of the pedestal is the calligrapher Sun Xiaoyun inscribed with the word "mother", and below it is engraved with the words "In Memory of Li Xiuying, a survivor of the Nanjing Massacre", all of which are designed to remind future generations: Remember history and do not forget the national shame.

< h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > concluding remarks</h1>

With the death of Li Xiuying, the few survivors of the Nanjing Massacre are slowly leaving us, and when they are still alive, Japan is reluctant to recognize that history. It is difficult for me to imagine this, but I think we should do our best to help these people to seek justice, because in doing so, we should not only make the Japanese recognize what they have done, but also let them admit history, but also let our descendants know history, remember history, remember national shame, and strive to be stronger!
