Nadezhda's life is peculiar, she was imprisoned by both the Eastern Ukrainian and Ukrainian governments, and her experience may also be a microcosm of the Ukrainian civil war.
Fast forward to a day in June 2014 when the Eastern Ukrainian militia in Luhansk said it was the 17th, and Nadezhda said it was the 18th or 19th. The East Ukrainian militia captured a group of soldiers from the 24th Aydar Independent Assault Battalion of the Ukrainian Militia Regiment. Nadezhda was quite famous in Ukraine at the time, having been born in 1981 and was deeply influenced by the depressed Ukrainian economy after the collapse of the Soviet Union during her time at Kiev State University. When she finally graduated, she was assigned to a Flying Mi-24 helicopter.
