Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the filing and approval of undergraduate majors in ordinary colleges and universities in 2021, and updated the catalog of undergraduate majors in ordinary colleges and universities. There are 1773 new majors for the record in colleges and universities across the country, 188 new majors for approval (including 145 majors controlled by the state and 43 new majors outside the directory), 48 professional points for adjusting the degree conferring categories or years of study, and 804 professional points for revocation.
On February 24, the reporter combed through the list of majors and found that the list released this time involved a total of 30 universities in Guangxi.
The list of newly filed undergraduate majors involves 67 majors of 28 colleges and universities in Guangxi, the list of newly approved undergraduate majors involves 3 majors of 3 colleges and universities in Guangxi, the list of majors that adjust the degree awarding category or the number of years of study involves 2 majors of 2 colleges and universities in Guangxi, and 31 majors of 5 colleges and universities have been revoked.
Among the undergraduate majors newly filed and approved in Guangxi, engineering majors are the largest, followed by management majors. Many colleges and universities have opened majors such as artificial intelligence, big data management and application, and financial technology. Beihai College of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics has the largest number of new majors, with a total of 9 new undergraduate majors added to the record.
In the list of majors revoked by Guangxi universities this time, literature majors were revoked the most, followed by management majors. Most of the revoced literature majors are small Southeast Asian languages, such as Malay, Burmese, etc.; the revoced management majors include business administration, administrative management, accounting, etc. It is understood that a total of 804 professional distribution points have been revoked nationwide, mainly some majors that cannot adapt to the needs of social changes and the employment rate is too low.
Since 2012, the Ministry of Education has taken the initiative to adapt to the changes in the needs of economic and social development, supporting colleges and universities across the country to increase the number of undergraduate professional points and withdrawing and suspending nearly 10,000 professional points.
In addition, in order to prevent some majors from setting up "overheating" and increasing the regulation and control of art and other majors, the Ministry of Education clearly requires colleges and universities to apply for the addition of art majors, which should be in line with the positioning of running schools and have been included in the officially released school career development plan.
The reporter noted that in the list released this time, 31 new majors such as carbon storage science and engineering, aerospace intelligent electric propulsion technology, biological breeding science, resource and environmental big data engineering, wetland protection and restoration, smart forestry, labor education, and history of science were officially included in the "Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors in Ordinary Colleges and Universities".
Among them, the newly approved jewelry design and technology of Guilin University of Technology is one of the new majors. It is reported that the professional points of filing, approval and adjustment will be included in the 2022 undergraduate enrollment plan of relevant colleges and universities.
