Athletics Base Camp 2022.2.25 The 25th day of the first month

A week ago, Norway's "post-00s" Jacob Ingriggssen set a world indoor record in the men's 1500m, which became the "youngest" world record in athletics.

So, what is the "oldest" world record in athletics?

The answer: the women's shot put world indoor record, which has now been held for 45 years!

What is the "oldest" world record in athletics?

On February 19, 1977, in Yablonec, Czech Republic, in the indoor women's shot put battle, the local female sherlena Fibinglova threw a stunning result of 22.50 meters, breaking the world indoor record.

This indoor record is firmly held to this day.

(On September 26, 1976, she set a world outdoor record of 21.99 meters.) Less than half a year later, in the winter season, she broke the 22-meter mark. )

Thanks to my friend PJ for finding out the video, although dusty for nearly half a century, the picture quality is blurred, but it is extremely shocking -

(The video was uploaded last year, so the video says it was 44 years ago)

Helena Fibingerová, born on July 13, 1949.

What is the "oldest" world record in athletics?

Her career in shot put was dramatic. In 1969, at the age of 20, she competed in the European Athletics Championships for the first time, shooting 15.22 meters and finishing tenth. In 1972, she finished seventh at the Munich Olympics with 18.81 meters.

In 1973 and 1974, she broke through 20 meters and 21 meters, respectively. As we mentioned earlier, in 1976, she threw 21.99 meters in the outdoor race, approaching the 22 meters mark. At the Montreal Olympics that year, she finished third with a time of 20.67 meters.

Let's watch a video of The 1976 Olympics by Fibingrova —

On August 20, 1977, six months after her feat of 22.50 meters indoors, she threw 22.32 meters outdoors, setting a world outdoor record. On 2 and 11 May 1980, former East Germany's Ilona Slupianek set two world outdoor records at 22.36 m and 22.45 m, both of which failed to match Fibingrova's world indoor record.

It was not until May 27, 1984, that Lisovskaya of the former Soviet Union threw 22.53 meters outdoors, and in 1987 she threw 22.60 meters and 22.63 meters, and the world outdoor record was fixed. The indoor PB of Lisovskaya is 22.14 meters, and only two women, Fibingrova and Lisofskaya, will shoot more than 22 meters in indoor competitions.

World Athletics ushered in a major leap forward in the 1970s and 1980s, with the first World Cup in Athletics (later the Intercontinental Cup) staged in 1977 and the first World Championships in Athletics held in 1983, with Filibinglova winning both of the "first" competitions, with a score of 20.63 m (1977 World Cup) and 21.05 m (1983 World Championships).

In 1987, at the age of 38, Phoebinglova competed in the second World Championships, finishing eighth with a time of 20.29 meters. Since then, she has not had the experience of a World Series.
