Zhang Puye, formerly known as Zhang Youhe. Born in 1960 in Datong, Shanxi, a teenager who liked to paint since childhood returned to his ancestral hometown of Tianjin with his parents, received formal painting skills training in the Tianjin Children's Palace art class and studied Chinese painting with Lü Yun's Mu Lingfei, and was later admitted to the Tianjin Arts and Crafts School. In 1981, he was escorted by the army to the art department of Shanxi University for further study.
Over the past few decades, his works have won many awards at home and abroad and many works have been collected by the state.
He is currently a Visiting Professor at the School of Art, Oxford University;
President of Xishuangbanna Branch of China Academy of Calligraphy and Painting;
State Council state ceremonial painter;
National first-class artist;
