Step into history A day trip throughout China

——Traveling with Brother Qin Yuan to Shenzhen "Splendid China"

Separated by a sea, he and Brother Qin Yuan had not seen each other for forty years and could not meet. After he retired last year, after returning to Taiwan with his wife and eldest son to visit his old mother in Wenchang County, Hainan Province, he wrote to me: "Although this visit to relatives came and went in a hurry, it also fulfilled my wish for many years of nostalgia for homesickness. In particular, I saw the old mother who had been separated for forty-one years, and the mix of sorrow and joy ,...... Although the mother is ninety and six, she is not as old as she thinks, and her old man's health is good, her ears are clear, her walk is like flying, and her black hair is an unexpected miracle. ...... I hope to have the opportunity to return home again in the coming year... If I could make the trip at that time, I would stop by to Guangzhou and Wuhan to see my old classmates and friends who had not been seen for many years. ”

We look forward to this day, and in August this year Qin Yuan wrote a letter saying that he had decided to return to his hometown again, and that he would come to Wuhan in the future. There are eighteen of our classmates in Wuhan, scattered in Wuchang and Hankou, and we have met several times in the past, but they are all over the age of huajia, and it is not easy to gather once, this time we can take advantage of the opportunity of Qinyuan to come to Wuhan, we can party again. I consulted with Brother Wang Kongxu and Zhou Xiwen, and then sent a car to gather the class members, and they gladly promised this task, and we made all preparations, just waiting for Qin Yuan to arrive.

On September 18th, when I was busy accompanying Senior Cai Mingxiang to visit his alma mater and Wuhan City, Qin Yuan came from Hong Kong twice for a long-distance call, his itinerary changed, due to the difficulty of booking plane tickets, the trip to Wuhan was cancelled, and I hoped that I could meet in Guangzhou. I could not miss this opportunity, and immediately agreed to come to Guangzhou on the twenty-sixth day and told him my contact address and telephone number in Guangzhou.

On the morning of the twenty-sixth, I rushed to Guangzhou as scheduled, waiting at the Wuhan Municipal Government Office in Guangzhou, the phone call came at three o'clock in the afternoon, Qin Yuan came from Haikou City to Guangzhou, staying on the fifth floor of the Xindadi Hotel on Qianzhan Road, I immediately took a "taxi" to go, Qin Yuan's image is still the same, but it is much older, we see the same, and we also know Mrs. Han Xiuyi, who has long been famous and capable, and their second son, I stayed in the hotel that night. The next day, we went to visit the Tomb of the Seventy-Two Martyrs of Huanghuagang, which was built with donations from overseas Chinese during the Period of the National Government, and its grandeur was magnificent. I visited Guangzhou on a business trip in 1953, and when I went back more than thirty years, it was still the same. From here, we went to visit the zoo to see the world's rare animals, the national treasure of the mainland - the panda.

My sister -- my sister-in-law Liu Maoxin (graduated from the Agricultural College of Wuhan University) and my brother-in-law Zeng Zuqin (who graduated from the Physics Department of Wuhan University) were working in Shenzhen, and I said to Qin Yuan, "I still want to go to Shenzhen by the way." He said: "Let's go together, Shenzhen should also go to see, Liu Maoxin I have also seen." On the morning of the twenty-eighth day, Qin Yuan chartered a "taxi" from Guangzhou, and arrived in Shenzhen in just over three hours. I haven't been to Shenzhen for a year, and my brother-in-law said: "Shenzhen has newly built a 'Splendid China' (villain country) to gather the scenic spots of the Chinese land here. "After lunch, the Qinyuan family and I drove forward.

"Splendid China" is located in Shenzhen Bay, Shahe Overseas Chinese Town, Shenzhen, 13 kilometers away from Luohu Customs Port. Its plane is chicken-shaped, similar to the plan of the mainland territory, taking the meaning of The epitome of Huaxia. The seven or four scenic spots in the park are distributed in the corresponding location according to the actual geography, for [such as] the Great Wall of Ten Thousand Miles in the north, wuzhishan mountain and Taiwan Yeliu Scenic Area in the south, Tianshan, Potala Palace, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in the west, Taishan, Shaoxing in the east, which contains the Great Wall, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Potala Palace and other famous ancient buildings 40; Huangshan, Guilin Landscape, Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Huangguoshu Waterfall and other natural landscapes; Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Warriors, Leshan Giant Buddha, Zhaojun Tomb and other monuments 19; as well as naadam congress, Miaozhai, Buyizhai and other ethnic landscapes eleven. Major scenic spots from all over the country, including Taiwan and Hainan, come together, and tourists call this place "the grand view of the miniature scenery of China's famous scenic spots".

"Splendid China" was built by China Travel Service in Hong Kong and Oct Economic Development Corporation in Shenzhen, with an investment of 60 million yuan and an area of 2.98 million square meters, which is three times larger than the world's famous Danish "villain country"; fifteen times larger than the Netherlands; and forty-four times larger than Thailand. The buildings of the "Villain Country" in other countries are twenty-five to one, while the landscape ratio of the "Little Man Country" in Shenzhen is the largest one to one; there are a few three-to-one, four-to-one, the vast majority of which are fifteen to one, like the <南>Yungang [Gang] Grotto Buddha, leshan Giant Buddha, Huangguoshu Waterfall and other landscapes, in order to maintain their original momentum, they all use large-scale shapes.

Many of the landscapes in "Splendid China" are the largest in the world and the largest in China, such as the world's longest Great Wall, the largest Qin Terracotta Warriors, the tallest Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the largest grotto gallery Mogao Grottoes, the oldest stone arch bridge Zhaozhou Bridge, the oldest observatory ancient observatory, the highest and most magnificent building Potala Palace, etc.

The slogan of "Splendid China" is: "One step into history, one day <历史>to travel all over China", as a microcosm of the land of China, it has become a three-dimensional and vivid, rich history and geography classroom, receiving an average of more than 10,000 people per day. Primary and secondary school teachers in Hong Kong have sent their students to visit Splendid China as a geography teaching curriculum. When students from Hong Kong and Macao and overseas tourists visit the famous mountains and rivers, ethnic customs and exquisite buildings throughout the country in "Splendid China", and have a true understanding of China's 5,000-year-old cultural traditions and the rich landscape of the whole of Europe, they naturally have a love and yearning for China, an ancient oriental country.

On the commercial street of Suzhou outside the scenic spot, tourists can also enjoy the fun of "buying all over China in one day and eating all over China in one day". Shops large and small are filled with souvenirs, folk crafts and tourist goods from all over the country. In the garden restaurant modeled on the Suzhou garden, you can also taste the famous dishes and flavor snacks cooked by famous chefs from all over the world, if someone takes a photo in front of the Leshan Giant Buddha, buys a group of Three Gorges stone paintings, and then eats a bowl of Dan dan noodles, after returning home, if he does not go to Sichuan, no one will believe it.

Although the "country of villains" is characterized by smallness, its rich content gives people a sense of grandeur, and it is for [such] that some people have written poems praising "splendid China" as follows: "Gathering in every square inch, the spirit runs through the blue sky, the wind and clouds are eight thousand miles, and it becomes a scoop." Five lakes and four seas, seventy-four micro-carvings, China tour for half a day, the heart is far away. ”

The Qinyuan family was very excited, taking photos in several places to commemorate, especially Mrs. Xiuyi and the second son, and also climbed to a high place to have a bird's eye view of the panorama. I travel to "Splendid China", and I have a special feeling. I have had the privilege of visiting twenty-three of the thirty-one provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions of the land of China, but only Heilongjiang, Jilin, Shanxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Tibet, Fujian, and Taiwan have not been there, and I have been to thirty-four of the seventy-four attractions in the "Little People's Country.", so I have a more intimate feeling when I visit. In fact, there are not only these seventy-four famous historical sites and attractions in our great China, but I am afraid that there are thousands or even tens of thousands, such as the Dragon Pavilion, the Iron Pagoda, and the Xiangguo Temple in Kaifeng, Henan; the Forest of Steles, the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, and the Qianling (the joint tomb of Li Zhi of Emperor Gaozong and Wu Zetian of Tang Gaozong), the tomb of Yang Guifei, and the huaqing pond; the White Horse Temple and Bai Juyi Tomb in Luoyang, Henan; the Peach Blossom Garden in Taoyuan, Hunan, and Zhangjiajie in Dayong; the Tianchi in Xinjiang, the Grape Gully in Turpan, the Ancient City of Gaochang, and the Flame Mountain; and the Seven Star Rocks in Guilin, Guangxi There are also many scenic spots in Dali, Yunnan, such as March Street, Erhai And Butterfly Spring; the Small Forbidden City and Zhaoling Tomb in Shenyang, Liaoning; and the lushan mountain in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, and Daihe in Beidaihe, Hebei. As far as Hubei, where I live, Liu Beisan Gu Maolu invited Zhuge Liang out of the mountains in Xiangyang Gulongzhong; Zhuge Liang's grass boat borrowed arrows to defeat Cao Bing's Puqi Chibi; Su Dongpo was demoted to Huangzhou Chibi in Huanggang; and later he was able to [degrade] to su Dongpo Academy in Hainan Island's Bile [Dan] County... I have visited all these places. It is impossible to really want to walk through all the scenic spots and monuments in the motherland, and I hope that one day I can go to Taiwan and enjoy the scenery and monuments of Taiwan's famous rivers, so that I can fill another gap.

Note: Mr. Pi Gongliang marked in his collection of "Luojia" magazine - "(A little bit is where the author has been)"

Mr. Pi Gongliang traveled north and south of the great river to Thailand [Yunnan] to participate in the Songkran Festival

Famous Elders:

A few days ago sent a draft to you, want to receive, there is a word in the draft written wrong, please correct it. In the drafts of "Luojia Stone House" and "Ren Li Ergong Ancestral Hall", the headquarters of Wuhan University was originally in the east factory entrance of Wuchang City, and the word "factory" should be changed to the word "field", and the east field mouth was the mouth of the east side of the parade, at that time, the urban area of Wuchang was very small, and the bustling place was at <公>the gate of the division and the "long street" parallel to the Yangtze River. The area of the horse parade is relatively remote, the Great East Gate is even more suburban, and the earliest Wuhan University Headquarters is also relatively remote.

After you left, "Wuhan University Alumni Newsletter" I planned to send a issue, I don't know if it can be published within the year, we are working on the first issue of next year, and I hope you will submit. Good luck!

Kosuke Zhida, December 10, 1989

Pi Gongliang is the chief reporter of Wuhan Yangtze River Daily, and he has his footprints in the north and south of the great river, Mongolia, Xinjiang, Hainan Island<, Thailand> and other places, and he has participated in the famous Songkran Festival in Thailand [Yunnan], and has reported as follows:

The "Songkran Festival" of the Dai people, as early as the movie has seen, this time I participated in the Wuhan Delegation to Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan, heard that I can catch the "Songkran Festival", I rejoiced, in the whole line, specially brought a few more pieces of chemical fiber texture clothes, ready to be splashed into the "falling water chicken". However, when I arrived in Mangshi, the capital of Dehong Prefecture, I learned that the original "Songkran Festival" was not a pouring pot of water, but the Spring Festival of the [Dai] compatriots, which was still very solemn and polite on formal occasions.

The seventh day after the Qingming Festival is the Spring Festival of the Tai [Dai] ethnic group. "Songkran Festival" began in Chinese New Year's Eve, celebrated for three days, the first day, the regional organization of the convoy up the mountain to pick flowers, we set off with the team. When I got out of the car, I also wanted to go with me to pick the flowers of happiness, but the mountain was high and steep, and I tried it, and finally only Wangshan sighed. The young men and girls who sang and laughed constantly knew that a few of our old men came from out of town, took special care of them, and after coming down the mountain, they would distribute the flowers and branches they had picked. As a blessing, we cherish it and bring it back to our place of residence.

The next day, it is the day of the official "Songkran Festival" ceremony. Early in the morning, I changed into chemical fiber clothes and prepared to go to the "baptism". I had a hasty breakfast, when I met a fellow male man dressed in Tai [Dai] costumes, carrying a bucket of water in his hand and a bouquet of flowers in his right hand, dipping the flowers in the water and sprinkling them on the back of my neck, while politely saying, "I bless you." I was shocked at first, and immediately thought that this was a festival of the Yang [Dai] clan, and that I should pay back the gift, but I had nothing in my hand, so I had to borrow flowers to offer Buddha, and I also blessed him with a gourd, sprinkled some water on the back of his neck, and the people who were traveling with me were happy for me, saying: "You are the first to be blessed, you will definitely have good luck." "The hotel had prepared buckets and straw hats for each of us, and we lined up to the square with a bucket of water filled with perfume.

The festival of "Songkran" was solemn, and we were invited to the podium. A group of girls carry buckets of water and flowers in their hands sprinkle water on us to bless us. Offstage, the men and women attending the meeting began to dance the Tai [Dai] ethnic dance in pairs with drums and five-tone gongs. Others laughed and splashed water on each other, only to see droplets of water glittering, bouquets waving, colorful tube skirts swinging rhythmically, laughter and music blending together.

On the third day, we bid farewell to Mangshi and took a car to Ruili, where people carrying buckets and basins along the road threw water on passers-by and cyclists. We were thankful to be sitting in the car and not getting wet. We were happily watching the splash of water through the window, and at the turn, the car slowed down, and suddenly the door was pulled open and a bucket of water was spilled, and we were drenched by the water of happiness.
