After more than a year of being kicked out by Twitter and Facebook, Trump finally returned to social media on U.S. President's Day — his own "Truth Social."

Carry out the "borrowing" to the end

As soon as it goes online, something goes wrong

However, although Truth Social was designed to fight Twitter and Facebook, Trust Social looks almost exactly like Twitter, from profile design to "Truth Feed", the posts have buttons similar to Twitter's retweet, like and share buttons, and the "tweets" sent on the trust are called Trusts and the "retweets" are called reTruths.

This kind of mutual "borrowing" from each other in social media is nothing new. However, in addition to the high similarity between truth and Twitter, sharp-eyed netizens found that even the logo design "borrowed" from Tunnel.

But these "criticisms" do not seem to affect the fiery level of truth. Since its launch, the app has topped the Apple App Store charts, scoring 4.1 out of more than 11,000 reviews.

That's it, though, as the app has suffered 13 hours of downtime and a lot of glitches almost immediately since it went live. When true went live, almost everyone tried to download it, but the feedback was "wrong". Or because of the huge demand, many people do not have the opportunity to download and log in, and can only wait with the "queue number plate". According to CNN, this waiting list exceeds 400,000 people.

What kind of social platform is Truth?

Doing Political OR Business?

Like the political overtones of Trump's own kicking out of Twitter, many wonder if this is a right-wing platform?

01 is highly competitive and already has a right-wing platform that has performed well

In the case of True Social, most of the views and ideas expressed are likely to belong to the right, however, since the platform relies on content published by Apple and Google in its app store, the Truth Social platform is unlikely to be a spokesperson for the far right like Gab (Gab is already the most famous right-wing platform, where they are closely linked by a sentiment of "being persecuted by the rest of the internet" without any content moderation).

02 The far right radiation surface is narrow, and Louis is dead

If it wants to survive, it must avoid Parler's fate. The far-right Twitter replica has been removed by Apple and Google for its inciting violence during the January 2021 pro-Trump riots at the U.S. Capitol.

The founders of those platforms invariably attracted a large audience with "freedom of speech" as desired, but these audiences were also encouraged by "freedom of speech" to burn the dreams of these founders through various fierce words and actions.

03 The pattern opens up to attract more people

It remains to be seen whether Devin Nunes, head of T Media Tech LLC (the developer of Truth Social), can take the platform off the ultra-right image. But the success of Trust Social will depend on the political views it can attract a large number of users. This is something that none of previous Twitter alternatives Parler, Gab, and Getter have done.

Whether True Social can avoid the mistakes made by other similar platforms is only a matter of time. But it does seem to be trying to draw a line with what the outside world sees as the hard-line right. As can be seen from its list of Apple App Stores, Truth Social describes itself as a "Big Tent"-style social media platform:

Imagine a huge outdoor activity tent at your best friend's wedding. Who's there? A combination of multiple families from the United States and around the world. Uncle Jim from Atlanta is a proud libertarian. Aunt Kelly, from Texas, is a staunch conservative. Your cousin John is from California, and he's a die-hard liberal.

No one knows more about social media than Trump

Data collection, election campaigning...

The pattern opens up, and Trump hopes to attract more people to use Truth, and more people mean more data information and possibilities.

Truth Social developers Trump Media and T Media Tech LLC said the platform will periodically collect data on users' browsing history, contact information (including their phone numbers), and any photos or videos they post. Importantly, this information will be linked to the user's identity.

The platform will also collect "non-identifiable" data on how users interact with the app — purportedly to analyze usage patterns and personalize the user experience. Having such a rich information structure allows Trust Social to not only understand users' views and behaviors, but also to send them personalized political message pushes.

While the legality of the practice would have been carefully scrutinized to put it on the right side of the law (although it could be morally problematic), such technology already exists.

Big data analytics is evolving rapidly, making it possible by increasingly intelligent algorithms, larger data sets, and more powerful computers, a game-changer in a high-stakes political world.

It's no accident that Truth Social's user interface is very similar to Twitter's. Twitter was once Trump's most influential platform. In a 2019 interview, Twitter co-founder Evan Williams called Trump the "master of the platform."

Arguably, his 57,000 tweets helped him largely become the 45th president of the United States.

And since the 2020 failure, he has been actively looking for more platforms (after being blocked by Twitter, trying podcasts, etc.) and is a candidate who is always ready.
