Let's first get to know Ziv Lee, a sneaker designer from Hong Kong, China, who is good at highlighting the distinctiveness of sneakers, and in private, he likes to express my views on sneakers through transformation and deconstruction. Simply put, it is what we now call DIY custom shoes.
Ziv Lee is very different from the well-known designers (such as Chen Guanxi, Fujiwara Hiroshi, etc.), and his design ideas are similar and exceed the 3% proposed by Virgil Abloh.
In 2021, Ziv Lee looked at the popular shoe SB Dunk and took out the deconstructive aesthetic he was good at, redefining this SB Dunk and transforming it.
If you're asking why last year's custom shoes were delayed until this year, I can only answer frankly, since Ziv Lee released SB Dunk, I haven't seen such a wonderful design for a long time. Is the mule is the horse let's take a look!
First of all, Ziv Lee's SB Dunk is a patchwork of Nike's three shoe types AF1, DUNK, and AJ1!
It is not easy to combine the three popular shoes into one, and the design difficulty is greatly improved, because the shoe body must not only be divided into 33.33%, but also show the characteristics of these three shoe types, and also ensure that the appearance is in line with the public aesthetic.
Speaking of the main structure, the shoe body is composed of splicing techniques, and the deconstructive aesthetics inadvertently presented are very natural and not deliberate.
The highlights of the details are the AJ1 flying wings without full exposure, and the hook material with only half of the toe is derived from the Swoosh Logo on the outside, the laces borrow from the OW x Dunk, and the heel ups, and the inside and outside are the common shoe labels of the Flying Jordan and AF1.
