The black dress that Meghan Markle wore in an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year was named dress of the year 2021 by the Bath Fashion Museum.
The museum claims the Armani dress symbolizes "rebirth, self-regeneration and spiritual enlightenment, as well as its ability to thrive in challenging circumstances."
Each year, the Bath Museum invites experts from the fashion industry to pick out an iconic garment that represents the past year.
Ibrahim Kamala and Gareth Layton of Dazed magazine argue that in an interview with Oprah, Meghan used the dress to articulate the idea of "anti-establishment", a moment that will forever be engraved in Britain's collective consciousness.
"Now, this shape, linked to a viral video clip, is deeply rooted in our pop culture psyche."
The museum called the two-hour bombing interview "one of the moments to define pop culture in 2021."
In oprah's interview, Meghan revealed that she was in great pain during her time in the royal family and had suicidal thoughts, and Prince Harry also revealed the rift between him and his brother Prince William.
In addition, the couple also broke the news that a member of the royal family had worried about "how dark Archie's skin would be when he was born", suggesting that the royal family was racist.
