Nissan invested $500 million to renovate an American factory to build electric vehicles

It was officially learned that Nissan will spend $500 million (about 3.17 billion yuan) to renovate the Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in Canton, Mississippi, to produce two new pure electric models and upgrade it to Nissan's electric vehicle manufacturing center in the United States.

Officials said the renovation of the Canton auto assembly plant is expected to be completed in 2025, while the company will retrain workers in 2,000 jobs. It is understood that the plant employs about 5,000 people and is responsible for the production of four models, ALTIMA (Tianlai), Frontier, TITAN (Titan) and TITAN XD, and has produced nearly 5 million cars since it was put into production in 2003.

According to the previously exposed news, Nissan plans to sell pure electric models in the US market by fiscal 2030, accounting for 40% of total model sales, and launch 23 Nissan and Infiniti brand electric drive models worldwide, including 15 pure electric models; it plans to achieve carbon neutrality of the entire company's operations and product life cycle by 2050.
