Rain is the second of the twenty-four solar terms. At the age of one year, three months of spring, summer, autumn and winter, two solar terms per month, each with its own unique meaning. The meaning of rain festival is that the rain begins and the amount of rain gradually increases.

In ancient times, rainwater was divided into three seasons: "one waits for otters to sacrifice fish; the second waits for the wild geese to come; and three wait for grass and trees to sprout." The rain is in the "seven nines" of the number nine, the river breaks the ice, and the geese return to the north.
In the book "The Seventy-Two Waiting Solutions of the Moon Order", wu Cheng of the Yuanren said: "In the middle of the first month, the sky is born of water, and the spring begins with wood, and those who give birth to wood will also have water, so the rain that follows the spring will follow." And when the east wind is thawed, it scatters into rain. "Rainwater means two meanings: one is that the weather is warmer and the precipitation is gradually increasing; the other is that in the form of precipitation, the snow is gradually decreasing, and the rain is gradually increasing.
Before and after the rain, the rainfall level is mostly light rain or drizzle. As the saying goes, "spring rain is as expensive as oil", suitable precipitation is very important for the growth of crops, it is a reflection of farming culture to the seasons.
