It's summer vacation,
Henry and his big dog Mudge were going to the beach.
Mudge has never been to the beach yet.
Henry warrants
He'll love it.
"You'll love the waves,"
He said.
"And sandcastles.
and shells.
But don't drink water! ”
He warned.
"(The sea) is too salty!"
They and Henry's dad
Got into the car.
It was in Henry's backpack
Green goggles,
A yellow bucket,
An orange shovel,
and a dump truck.
In Mudge's backpack
It's a blue bowl,
A pot of water,
Half a bone
And a tennis ball.
In Henry's dad's backpack it was
A book about shells,
Six towels,
And one he likes to carry
Red rubber lobster.
They go all the way
Singing the songs of the sea.
Henry Dad said
"Oh ho ho"
About a hundred times.
Henry pretended to be a shark.
Mudge wagged his tail.
They can't wait to get there.
